Lewis Nova retired in the off season and Bob Hadfield took pver the duties he is the former athletic director of Del-Norte.....This might be what Del-Norte needs a little shuffle to spark the Warriors again with the two returning running backs that sliced open Miramonts defense last year returning for there senior seasons I believe Del-Norte can make another run...WARRIOR PRIDE

I heard Nova's father passed away this offseason. Wonder if that had something to do with it. He was a good man. Hope he has a happy retirement.

Yeah buck is the satrting QB for the BC Lions He just signed a 4 yr deal last month he has been essintail in there success in the last 5yrs.......By the way Brookings backed out of our game this year so we picked up Ferndale to play instead what are your guy's thoughts on that is it beneficial for Del-Norte to play a small school like Ferndale even though there a powerhouse in there division............ I think we have more to lose if we lose, then what we would gain with a win.......WARRIOR PRIDE

j-bones......you are exactly right. Beating a small school doesnt help you in the section meeting. Losing to them could look terrible. Personal opinion though- great game for the kids between two great programs. I have no clue what either team has this year though

Why did Brookings back out this late? Thats pretty messed up when you thing about it. There was a nice tradition between that Oregon school and the HDNL, specifically Del Norte due to their location. Will Del Norte be able to schedule 10 games this season? What about Amador Valley?

Ben, it looks like another 9 game season for DN they travel to Amador valley, and they have Ferndale at home and Hidden Valley from OR also at home......Brookings is tired of getting rolled over by us, unfortunatley all the good football players in Brookings, take the 20 mile trip north to Gold =Beach where they have a top notch program.....WARRIOR PRIDE

Hadfield takes over for Coach Nova at Del Norte Aaron Finley For the Times Standard Posted: 05/05/2009 10:33:04 AM PDT
Click photo to enlarge«1»After guiding the Del Norte Warrior football team to four consecutive North Coast Section playoff appearances, three straight Big Five titles in a four-year period and an overall record of 36-9, head coach Lewis Nova has resigned due to personal reasons.
Taking over the at the helm of the Warriors for the 2009 season will be Robert Hadfield, who served as defensive backs coach under Nova during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Although this will be Hadfield's first head coaching job at Del Norte High, the former athletic director is no stranger to the role he will be undertaking with the Warriors, having spent four years as a head football coach in McFarland, California and six more in Fairfield, Illinois, his home state.
Truth be told, Hadfield had expressed interest in coaching the Warrior varsity squad after Nova stepped away from coaching following the 2000 season after having coached the squad throughout the decade of the 90s, but was informed that because he was a school administrator at that time, he would not be able to serve as both administrator and head coach.
”I got out of coaching to get into administration,” Hadfield said.
”Coaching young men is a great thing. I've never lost my enthusiasm for football, and I am very confident in my abilities as a head football coach.
Stepping into the role of head coach on the heels of what is the most successful run in recent Warrior football history is no easy task for anyone, but
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Advertisement -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hadfield made it clear he's not concerned about living in anyone's shadow. ”I try to keep things in perspective,” he said. “Football is fun, and it should be fun. My job as a coach is to make sure the kids are having fun.”
Don't get the wrong idea, Hadfield may be calm in demeanor as he prepares to step into his newest role, but once mid-August,
specifically Aug. 17 rolls around, it will officially be time to get down to business.
Not only will he be drawing on his own personal coaching experience, but Hadfield shares a philosophy with a prominent college coach who also happens to be the all-time winningest football coach in the nation.
None other than Penn State Nittany Lions icon Joe Paterno.
”The will to win is important. The will to prepare to win is vital.”
Hadfield has the quote memorized verbatim, and he believes it is that approach, along with developing a solid team chemistry, that will enable the Warriors to continue their winning ways.
”We will work hard, and we will be prepared every time we step on the football field,” he said. “We've got a g
roup of kids that has never had a winning season as a group, but with the right team chemistry and the right work ethic I believe anything is possible.”
Although the Warrior coaching staff is still being structured, rest assured the head coach will be the head coach. Hadfield made it clear that he will be involved in every facet of the game offensively, defensively and on special teams.
”The only thing I worry about is how hard the kids work during the week in practice,” he said. “We will be fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. The results on Friday nights will take care of themselves.”
No one can predict what the method to the madness will be or whether it will produce immediate results, but one thing is clear,
there will be no stone unturned and there will be accountability from the top down.
”I have 33 spots to fill on this team, 11 on offense, 11 on defense and 11 on special teams,” Hadfield said. “I know there will be
kids who will be playing two ways, but if a kid is willing to work hard every day in practice and put the time in, I will find a place for him on the field regardless of ability.”
The bottom line with coaching, and athletics in general, is that, unlike in other professions, results are instant one way or the other.
”There is immediate feedback, and it's called the final score,” Hadfield said.

Speaking of the HDNL, what does Fortuna have to offer? After a very successful 7-5 season and a nice playoff victory over Piedmont, I cant wait to see what they have planned this season.
