From NCS board minutes, it seems everyone in the north will follow Analy's proposal for "status quo" in terms of possible realignment www.cifncs.org/alignment_&_classification/index.phpThere does exist some sort of "competitive anomaly" exception, where leagues can request a ridiculously superior team not play league games. It's high time the rest of the SCL swallow their pride and pursue that option for football....another farcical league season won't help anybody....

Elsie Allen plays at Analy this week...is there ANY reason for this game to be scheduled in 2015? The guy who runs ysn365 has a good column on needed football realignment www.ysn365.com/news/this-and-that-windsors-schedule/He's spot on--Analy to NBL, Ukiah and Santa Rosa to SCL, Elsie Allen to NCL II. I guess the reason why ADs and coaches aren't doing anything about it is because they don't want to align leagues by sport, and just general lethargy against any change. Am I the only one who cares? The least Analy can do is volunteer that they will NOT play Elsie Allen next year to free each other to find a competitive game, and seek permission from NCS to do so.....I imagine the NCS would do at least that much. But knowing them, they'd just say "no" make Analy and Elsie play each other!

Regarding Analy, my question is how good are they supposed to be after this year? How is their JV program? I do t follow them so I don't know. If there isn't alot in the pipeline, it doesn't make sense to move.
But my guess is they won't move because of the other sports. I don't think that generally schools want to be in different leagues for different sports.
Elsie Allen needs to move. The NCL II is the best chance for them to be competitive. I'd also say the case could be made that St Helena, Fort Bragg and Middletown could all go to the SCL and compete (except for Analy of course). Football wise, the SCL is very weak.

I'm in agreement mustang. Analy has won 2 SCL titles in a row after not winning one for 19 years? They could drop off in the near future, these things are cynical. If not then good job by staff for building a solid program. Instead of punishing a program for improving over the years others should look inside their own programs and see where the bar is set. It's the problem with the pussification of this newer generation. "We don't want to put in the work or compete". If it is the culture of a program to be a bottom feeder than it should be on them (Coach/AD/Admn) to look to move, not punish a program who is achieving through hard work.
I think this is more a reflection of the rest of the SCL then on Analy (not discrediting them). The league is way down and I am in agreement reagarding not much of a gap at the top of the NCL 1 with the rest of the SCL (minus Analy).

I don't understand the reluctance to align by competitiveness by sport--it's far less arbitrary than by enrollment or geography.
OK, it's unfair to Analy football to make them play in a more competitive league in that specific sport. So instead:
a--tell all the other SCL schools that it's a Darwinian survival of the fittest world, keep dealing with it, and if you can't keep up, well, you must deserve it.
b--which creates zombies like Elsie Allen football. So to solve that, we put ALL Elsie Allen sports in the NCLII.
Great--but Elsie Allen boys soccer is pretty good...how is this fair to the other NCLII boys soccer teams? And so on.
If we're going to be unfair, it seems we should be unfair to the one school, in the one sport, that has remarkable success...which should be wanting to schedule a high percentage of competitive games anyway.
So--do we make Analy put Elsie Allen on the 2015 football schedule, or vice versa? Is keeping all sports in one league that important?

The first step is to somehow keep students in the school they belong in. Analy has about 500 transfer students, about 1/3 of their total student population. If the ratio is consistent about 170 of those are athletes who should be attending other schools. Elsie Allen probably is the biggest loser in student transfers in the Santa Rosa School district. I don't know the answer but something needs to be done to keep students in the Schools they should be in.

hsfootballfan,....20 years ago, heck even 5 years ago, I would have agreed with you...when I was young (1970s and 80s!) it was rare for athletes to not attend their assigned school.
Rightly or wrongly, it's a whole different world now, and I think the best way to deal with it for sports is to align by competitiveness only.
