thanks for the link to the article....it's long and detailed, but I still don't understand completely!
So Burrell was HC last year..but because another teacher (Burris, and a former coach) wanted the job, the district had re-interview both (presumably because of the teachers union contract?)
Interview committee chose Burris. Parents behind Burrell organized a protest, claiming the interview committee was biased. Burris then resigned from his newly appointed coaching position, citing a bad situation. The parents went ahead with their public protest at the school board meeting, supporting Burrell. At this meeting, Burris' wife re affirmed that her husband has resigned, and defended the hiring committee and said her husband was the most successful coach at UHS in quite some time.
So Burrell is still head coach, correct? And did Burris resign from the coaching position only, or from his job as teacher as well?
Can someone with more knowledgeable shed a little background? Who was the coach prior to Burrell in which there was problems, correct?
I have trouble reconciling that Burris seems to have had success, but if a large number of parents did indeed organize a protest, well, that's unusual. It's hard to think that ALL those parents are being unreasonable, but suppose it's possible.

Chris Burris?! What year are we in?
His record stands on its own? You mean .500 over 10 years and a disappointment years in and out with a program that should have been competing for the NBL title each year? The same title that got his mediocre ass fired years back.
Let's recap on this. Burris has great athletes. I haven't so much as thought about HS football for about 24 months and I can name them off. The school was soul on him when they let him go, I don't see any reason to hire him again.
At the same time I think this 're-interview' for your job each year if someone comes along is a joke. I wouldn't touch that job with a 10 ft pole.
