After reading the previews (including Analy) I'm willing to say that the top tier of the NCL I (St Helena, Mtown, Fort Bragg) has officially surpassed the SCL. What do you guys think?

You must not watch much NCL I football if you think combining two of the top three teams (Middletown, Fort Bragg, St. Helena) couldn't give any team in the redwood empire a run for their money. Not taking anything away from Analy, but hanging half a hundred points in the first half on a top NCL I defense like Middletown would not happen.

What was the halftime score of Analy vs El Molino last season?

Analy has been on a roll the past couple of years, but I have no problem saying Middletown, St. Helena, and Fort Bragg (in any order) would have finished 2nd through fourth in the SCL last year after Analy, and would probably finish at least 3rd through fifth on a regular basis if they were added to the SCL.

I don't think the gap is that large. Top to bottom I'd say NCL 1 is deeper. Analy the best few years has just been superior to everyone else (but not 50 points better, that's just stupid).

Am late reading this, but as a diehard SCL guy I have to comment.
Um...you're all correct. The top three NCL I are consistently as good as SCL 2-4. Combine any two NCL teams, and they still get crushed by Analy, same as combining any two of the 6 other SCL.
The SCL is the "JV of the NBL"? Ouch, but true at least for the top tier of NBL--remember, the SCL used to be named "NBL II"--look at the gym pennants for Analy, Sonoma, El Mo, or H'burg. Or Newman, which built its reputation blitzing the NBL II for a decade. (Maybe Newman took theirs down, an embarrassing reminder.)
The larger question--should leagues align by enrollment or competitiveness by sport? If the latter for football, Elise is in NCL III, Analy in NBL, and the rest of SCL with the NCL I...maybe call it "NCL I-ditto." Or, a new SCL with Santa Rosa and Ukiah but not Analy or Elsie.
Hate to admit it, but yes, SCL has been struggling for several seasons now.
