"Santa Rosa City Schools and Montgomery High School have voted to hire Tony Keefer as the Vikings next football coach. The hire comes after an tony-keefer-2extensive two month search and interview process by Montgomery"
So Keefer will leave Montgomery before he ever coaches there??

Who did keefer have on his staff at Montgomery? Would they go with him to Newman if he went there? Is Keith Simons looking for a HC position? If so, he may be in line to take over at analy.

WOW!!! Now Cronin has decided to stay at Newman. I would love to know what that pay raise looks like. Great news for Cardinal Newman and another tough break for Windsor.

You have to wonder if Coach K was pushed out to make room for Cronin? And I guess it's safe to say that Keefer is still the HC at Montgomery.

Yeah I'm sure the boosters were smart and helped with a raise. As someone else pointed out it usually takes Windsor a year to run off a coach, a week is a new record. He might have had second thoughts about the dysfunction and track record there?

I hope this wasn't all a big ploy to get better pay and retirement from CN. If it was, I lost a lot of respect for Cronin today.

I for one have lost ALL respect for Cronin either way (if for money which I hear he may have done in the past)success on field (by recruiting) or not off field character is who you are. You must be committed before you accept not to mention allow arrangements to be made for your arrival as you are effecting others. Like when he backed out two weeks ago before going public that was somewhat acceptable but, and Most importantly be committed before telling your players your leaving and then meeting and make commitments with your new players disrespecting both schools and both schools players. He was quoted in the paper about being there for the kids all of them these examples show otherwise!

Many times the only way to get a quality coach is to offer a teaching job. It is tough for an off-campus coach, Trent Herzog did a good job at Casa although the last few seasons have been mediocre at best. If you look at all the long time, successful, coaches in the area nearly all are on campus. Analy and Casa are going to have a heck of a time getting a solid coach will who stay, unless they can get some teaching position open.
I'm almost certain Elsie Allen has never had an on campus coach, look how that has turned out!

As a long-time Newman "hater", I actually don't believe Cronin did it as a negotiating ploy. The material advantages of a full time teacher at a public school are immense compared to a private school and would be tempting for any teacher (downside, of course, is having to put up with a higher proportion of disengaged, disrespectful students).
There's no way to put three kids through CN tuition on a CN teacher salary. So I suspect it was a sincere idea to go to Windsor, but CN came unexpectedly through with tuition waivers and a few goodies once they saw he was really going to leave. But yeah, he and CN should have been certain that they understood each other's final offers before announcing the move. Someone was playing games in those internal negotiations, I suspect it was CN.
And speaking of games--if Windsor really did run off Coach Kirpatrick with the thought of getting Cronin....oops, that's a big fumble.
and I agree the PD article is a little nauseating about being motivated by helping kids, etc., as if there were no Windsor kids worthy of being helped.

What does it look like for Windsor Casa and Analy?
Only name I've heard is Brunk from Santa Rosa.

Casa and Analy I don't think have teaching jobs to offer, so Brunk may be a good fit at either of those places if he is looking to get out of SR. He's one of the best off campus head coachs around
