TJ Bird was better than Ludlow. 2700+ yards his senior year. Ludlow had more yards, slightly, but way more carries.

If he had stayed in the redwood empire, Kahill Bell would have been right there with the best of them.

Kahlil Bell did stay in the Empire, he transfered to Marin Catholic his junior year from Monty because he couldnt start as a soph on their basketball team.

Kahlil Bell was a great running back, but sorry he is not even the best back from MC the last 15 years. Amundson was a btter back. Both great, Amundosn was better though.

Jerry Robinson, Cardinal Newman '75, UCLA '79. 3-time All American at UCLA. Drafted by Philadelphia Eages in 1st round. All Pro in 1980 and 1981 seasons. Played in '81 SuperBowl. 14 year career w/ Philadelphia Eagles and LA Raiders. In College Hall of Fame and nominated to NFL Hall of Fame.
Is there another local football player who has had that much success beyond high school?

I agree Jerry Robinson was one of the greatest local players ever. But if memory serves me right, he was a tight end, not a running back.

Percy Grogans was the Newman RB in those days. Never saw him play but I hear he was great, Maybe the best.

I don't know about the best, but Rancho has had some very good ones. Mark Hedeen 95-96, was an animal, went on to Washington State but his college career was ended by injury. Karl Mikolon 98-99 played at SRJC and Bemidji State , Jim Knight 77-78, Maurice White (SRJC, West Texas A&M, Arena Football), 00 -01, Johnny Callinan 04-05 and Damon Smith and Chris Stevens 93-94 all had great careers as High School running backs.
