Seriously, there is a Co-MVP for every position these days. If a player doesnt get the PD Player of the Year, it isnt the end of the world.
Pick one.

This is always a popularity contest. Usually they don't let facts get in the way! However, Atoe and Shull are good choices. Others I think are deserving, Carillo QB and DB, Santa Rosa's J. Roselli, Monty's Smallcomb and Hass (tied for league lead in ints) Newman's "short" linebacker, and any senior kid from Elsie who didn't quit and stuck it out for all 3 years! The Piner team should get some love also.

Co- MVP everywhere. Co this, Co that, just more 'don't hurt their feelings' stuff.
5 total QB's on first team and second time combine, WTF?

No Newman 1st team Lineman? No Jack James 1st team ?? So does the all league list make up the roster of seniors who play in the all star kiwanis game?

No it doesnt. And if there are Newman players who did not get first team it is because their coach must not have nominated them. thats all i can imagine.

What happened to the kid who transferred to Montgomery from Piner? Wasn't he supposed to make an impact for Montgomery? Did he even get to play?

I have and always will have a problem with individual awards for football. It is the ultimate "team" sport. And these topics take away from that. You can not and should not put too much emphasis on the individual.
I am a fan of "Co"-awards. I think there should be Team awards. Like Best Line or Best Backfield. These players would not be nearly as successful without their teammates. I know the kids like to see their names and be recognized, but the only people who really have a fit about all this are the fans and parents who have no idea.
This subject really bothers me. (as you may be able to see) It just sends the wrong message.

Football415. The kid is Jabari Simms-Young. His running style did not match up with Franci's opinion of how the football needs to be run. He is a sidelines to sidelines guy and then cut up when a hole opens. Franci likes smashmouth so Jabari got moved to defense. He started a few games at corner but lost his starting position after getting beat for two touchdowns against of all teams Piner. In the championship game against Eureka he did play alot at corner after the starting corner who replaced him got hurt on a kickoff return. He was only a junior and should be our top defensive back next season.
