After tonights game, I wanted to congratulate the Petaluma Trojans on there perfect season. I don't think anybody saw this one coming at all. People including me thought they would be around .500 this year. But they turned into one of the more dominant teams that I have seen in the SCL in a long time. I really think this team has what it takes to win NCS this year. After what I saw against Healdsburg, my goodness 62-15! Just total domination, think about it they dominated the SCL this year, there were really no close calls the entire season. Does that remind you of anyone? Maybe a team that went to state last year? I'm not saying they are as good as that team but there are similarities in there seasons.

No responses? If this was Casa or Newman it would be a lot different

A historic season for Troy, made sweeter with a convincing drubbing of the crosstown rival, first win over RC in some time, and Elli's 200th PHS victory. Whatever happens in the postseason is gravy, but this team could do some damage.
The offense is loaded with skill players and an athletic but unheralded line. The triple could give teams headaches with only a week to prepare for it, if they are unfamiliar. The PHS defense...lights out! Special teams have improved through the season, but the head coach may be their most valuable weapon. One thing's certain...they're not sneaking up on anyone this year.

Great game! Healdsburg definitely had us scared for a bit there. Classy team and coach. Cattalini is a force to be reckoned with. Congrats to Petaluma on a 10-0 season. Well deserved. This 2010 class definitely lived up to the pre-season talk. There should be a lot of doubters out there sending their congrats now. Casa and Petaluma will both represent well in the playoffs. Great job guys and, of course, Jordy!
Also wanted to add what a great coaching team. They are great examples and mentors to the players. Having a few on campus as teachers really is a positive. They keep a close on the grades, behavior, etc.. I'm not saying all coaches need to be on campus, but it's nice to have some that are to remind the players of their responsibility to represent your team well.

I initially resisted commenting out of fear of jinxing Petaluma. But after thinking about it, no matter what happens in the coming weeks for them, what they have accomplished this year is pretty special. Obviously a loss next week or in the following weeks would be devastating, but it couldn't take away from what this year's team did in the regular season. This is obviously a very talented team with some special players, but I also believe the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. There's a maturity and chemistry on this team that needs to be acknowlegded. Several times during the season I kept waiting for these kids to let all the great things being said about them go to their head. And for them to think they could simply win by showing up Friday night. And that never happened. The leaders of that team, along with the coaches, wouldn't allow it.
And I was glad to see the PD recognize the defensive unit of this team. I've said all along there isn't one single player on the defensive side of the ball opposing teams would look at and say they need to take him out of the game. But at the same time, there really isn't a weakness either. So you combine those two elements with how well they play together, and you've got a pretty special defensive team, albeit unspectacular. But effective. And good.
And despite the lopsided score last night, I truly thought Healdsburg was a good team. Despite being undersized both physically and enrollment wise, they've got some great players. I knew Dylan Cattalini was supposed to be good, but he's even better than advertised. Especially on the defensive side. And Killian Collins needs to be included in the discussion of top Sonoma County QB's, in my opinion.

I'm saving my comments until Petaluma gets through the playoffs. It has been a magical 10-0 season, SO FAR, but this team needs to stay focused as they have the potential to go 14-0, win the NCS, and be ranked up there with some of the all time great Redwood Empire teams.

i'd say relative quiet is actaully the highest praise...of course everyone with a soul is thrilled for Petaluma and coach Ellison and all this in a season which they were not expected to do all that stupendous...it seems they get better each game--would love to see them finish out undefeated!

PHS great year. My question now is after a 10-0 year a 200th win and a below par freshmen and JV team does Elli leave? Sorry to pop the question but has anyone heard?
