Heard some noise about this weekend's scrimmage in petaluma, heard SM looked better than the pack, NHS had some flashes and fullback there sounds like a beast..SM using last year's RB at QB, so may limit them down the stretch, heard DE is real deal over there as well. Heard MC offensive line was suspect vs. CN, probably fairs better against their more lowly MCAL counterparts...still a 2 QB system there with all leaguer Tewhill back for senior season, with jr Goff getting reps.
Anyone care to pick the MCAL? I'll take a shot
MC San Marin Redwood Novato Siena San Rafael Terra Linda Drake

Marin Catholic San Marin (could take a shot for the title) Novato (players and coaching makes Novato a threat) Justin Siena (Too many returning starters to take anything less than 4th. Could move higher) Redwood (Better but so is the whole league) Terra Linda (Who knows but on paper should be better than Drake and San Rafael) Drake (New coach has them on track) San Rafael (lost everyone)

heard San Marin landed a strong armed QB from texas on a transfer, don't think eligible yet, 6-3 underclassman supposed to be the real deal, ran the Texas spread and is dual threat type -- could put them ahead of the hornets and into the 2 spot in MCAL if they play hiim QB and move the RB kid they have back there back in the backfield...enough of an upgrade to knock off MC? probably not !

time to move DRAKE up the list??
MC Novato SM Redwood JS DRAKE TL TAM SR
Novato should beat Petaluma, MC should beat Berkeley handily, SM tough game v Acalanes (SM big defensive end possibly hurt, QB struggled last week) I think Acalanes takes em, Sonoma beats Tam, Healdsburg beats TL, SR loses to Irvington, and Redwood beats Lowell...

I have Justin finishing much higher than many others. I think they can beat Tam, Redwood, Drake, SR, and TL. They dont have a chance against Marin Catholic but few teams do. San Marin will be a good game for them. I see JS finishing 3rd over either Novato or San Marin.

JS definitely will be 3rd or 4th depending if they can beat Novato or SM

Novato blown out by MC. Novato scored first riding two very good looking RB's - big fullback and slashing RB - then seemed to get away from the run and QB struggled...SM rolled up SR who was just outmanned, they are missing fullback/RB kid who was aweseome last season as a jr...MC this week for the Mustangs, Hornets go out of MCAL and face Eureka? Redwood fell to TAM in OT. Level of play in MCAL is much improved!! SM have a shot to upset MC? Line may keep SM in game - great DE maybe gets after that QB a bit...probably biggest test left for MC until they cruise through the MCAL

SM will be tough, but i just dont see them being able to beat MC if they could only put up 3 points on Analy......with MC quick strike offense this year i just dont see any team in the MCAL sticking to their guns and grinding out the ball on the ground all game long against MC, especially if they get hit with a couple of TDs.......will force a team like SM to throw the ball and that fits perfect for MC and now J'von Lewis is healthy on the DL hes and wreaking havoc again and they missed that against Vacaville and Berkeley game

it's a great point - Novato got away from run after first drive and seemed to flail after - their RB's both looked better than MC's kid, but the difference was QB play. Unlike MC teams of yesteryear, this one strikes by the air, which we know can go badly quick if kid gets cold or throws a couple picks...SM is even more one dimensional on the ground - so maybe no choice but to run the ball. J'von and co. may be too much for 5-8 QB to navigate through...SM strength has to be it's pass rushers - D1 kid Kristoffers at DE and very capable kid on other end - so if SM can get to QB they have a shot, as the running game out of spread w/ Akili kid did not impress me much. Would be a monumental upset, but I think SM is the best test remaining in MCAL and matches up better than most could. MC defense seems just OK - although they have played strong teams but are dead last in MCAL total defense. They moved up a linebacker from JV and played him so must be thin or concerned w/ that. They get back another LB kid from disciplinary suspension...SM has been waiting for 6-3 QB transfer from Texas to gain eligibilty, should upgrade offense instantly - but don't think available this week. Smallish RB for SM can carry the load, they lost fullback kid Grossi to injury so thin there. SM DL vs. MC OL is the matchup to watch...
