Huge news! I can't believe I missed this.
First, Tenorio is a great field general and I'm sure he'll be back coaching soon.
Second, it feels a bit odd that after two rebuilding years, when Encinal managed a 14-9 total record in what should have been much worse (if their league had not been in a down cycle), he chooses to leave right before a potential up year? That combined with kids jumping ship...if that turns out to be true. Feels weird. Especially if kids are jumping ship even before a new coach is named. It feels like something is missing from the story.
Third, at the very least, with 8 kids jumping ship...if true...what does that say about "Jet Pride"? Don't tell me they are D1 prospects who's future education depends on it. Encinal doesn't have more than 1 or 2 D1 prospects. Jordan Parker and I'll accept maybe one more. And anyway, coming off a 8-3 season I'd have thought they could have built something with a new coach.
Tenorio's on field coaching is legendary, but it will be interesting how his legacy is perceived. Being a great coach is a lot about winning games, but its also about other factors like what shape you leave a program in. Only time will tell.
