MV didn't go because the Open loser goes instead of the D1 for the NCS.........Central Section now plays with the North to even out the enrollment disparity

Freedom got "rewarded" for losing the Open final. MV "won" the section and gets to stay home. So sick of this participation, everyone gets a trophy mentality! Lose and play on, horrible message to send. I don't care who you have to play, it's called competing.

Agree with Bella. That is crap! Since the open winner goes straight to state they could have the Open LOSER play the Div 1 winner in regionals that way the best team is represented?

I also feel bad for St bernerds. State champs last year so they get bumped up to DIV. They dominate the playoffs until they run into Newman, who quite honestly, would've won DIII and possibly DII.
They had another State Championship team and get left with DIV runner up. There has to be a way to fix this.

Yeah I don't love Newman in D4. They should have gone D3 like they used to be. The most competitive bracket in NCS. They would have rolled the D2 field which outisdies Campo was not very good.

The new point system is complicated, but at least it eventually forces powerful teams to play in powerful divisions in the post season--like forcing Marin Catholic to compete in higher play off divisions, instead of picking on the small rural schools. If I am correct, Newman will have to play in a higher division for ensuing years, having won enough "points."
As for St. Bernard--no tears there. They are legitimately boosted up they have no business playing tiny D5 schools lucky to even field a football team.

D2 is so weak that they won't have competition there for the foreseabale future.wonder if teams like MC, CN, BOD may try to petition up to d2?
