I saw on twitter that St Mary's forfeited in the 4th quarter against Rancho. Did anyone see why? Did they lose a bunch of players to injury?

Heard they walked off the field in the 4th qtr. didn't shake hands and called it quits? Deplorable if true.

It sounds like Rancho scored with around 11 minutes left on the fourth and that's when St Marys walked off the field. There was a running clock in the 2nd quarter and all of Rancho starters were pulled at half. That's pathetic for any school to quit. What lesson did that teach the St Marys kids? Unless they were physically in danger of course, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
My question is whether St Mary's was that bad or is Rancho that scary? I watched some highlight clips on Hudl and it didn't really seem that St Marys was physically overmatched. They seemed to be able to run with the Rancho kids.

It seems that St Mary's coach thought Rancho was running the score up. How do you tell 3rd string kids not to play hard? Are they supposed to take a knee on every offensive play? St Mary's coach should have talked to the officials and Rancho coach and told them they wanted to stop play. Just walking of and not shaking hands is never OK.
Rancho is scary good on offense. They have so many weapons it is hard to stop all of them. Game this Friday against Analy should be a good one.

What was St. Mary's thinking when scheduling this game? Much fault lies with their Athletic Director for agreeing to schedule when they are so overmatched.
Does the running clock really start at 35 points lead regardless of when it occurs during the game--I thought it only started like after the mid point of the third quarter or some such.

According to MaxPreps, Rancho did not score in the 4th qtr. Running clock is automatic when lead is 35 in the 4th qtr. Running clock can be earlier if the Coaches agree. Rancho defeated St Mary's 35 to 28 in round 1 of division 3 playoffs last year so maybe they thought they could compete this year?
I just found out MaxPreps is wrong, Rancho scored with about 11 minutes to go in the 4th. When a running play was messed up, the QB threw a pass that was caught for a TD. St Mary's coaches were upset and told the Refs to call the game. St Mary's walked off without shaking hands.

After the Analy rout it looks like Rancho is legit, big test versus Campo in two weeks.

My question is will there be any repercussions with St. Mary's walking off the field. Since this is a few weeks after the event I would guess not. St. Mary's sure went down hill. 0-4 now.
