Possible realignment every 2 years seems kinda overkill. Maybe it will all work out. Some schools are already playing up NCS playoffs. Some schools also play in different NCS divisions in various sports.

Speaking from a purely football standpoint, the new “SCL” looks very lopsided. Petaluma, Sonoma, Casa, Napa, Justin Sienna, American Canyon, and Vintage? Sonoma has no business playing in that league. I’m not sure JS would be able to compete either. Napa looks like the class of the league. They should’ve been put into the NBL, but I understand they wanted to keep all the Napa schools together.

Absolutely agree. I feel Sonoma Valley football will be on the wrong end of several lopsided scores. No fun for them and no fun for schools playing them. Sonoma would have fit in NBL 2 much better.

No question Sonoma Valley is the big loser in the realignment, and not just for football. The big winner is Marin Catholic football, which will remain unchallenged in league.
But I like the new combined league--sorting out each sport provides reasonable competition during the regular season--rather than waiting for the playoffs to sort teams by competitive quality. Bad luck for Ukiah football to get assigned to the top tier, and Montgomery football lucks into a league where they start off as a favorite.
Not sure why the Napa schools get their wish to be all lumped together. Why not have everyone in two super leagues split in two divisions? NBL I and II and MCAL I and II? I suspect we'll get there, but it will another decade or so.
