Whole situation in the athletic department is a mess. Principal Pat Daly has a great track record as as stand up guy and a leader. But this situation which he allowed to happen on his watch is a huge blow to the school and might just be its demise. This has nothing to do with Antonio he took the high road.

Too bad. There must be more to this behind the scenes. It seems that in general high school football, especially small school football is struggling here in the North Bay compared to years past, struggling to obtain and retain good coaches seems to play a part in this.

Sounds like job is still open? My guess is they’ll go with Herzog.

Still open due to Lack of applicants or school dragging their feet? Herzog would be interesting since it seems to be a conflict with the recruiting circuit he has been on? But maybe as a private school is makes sense not that private schools recruit just sayin

Officially Herzog www.petaluma360.com/news/8006361-181/former-casa-coach-herzog-chosenReally just lazy and sloppy “journalism” by JJ Jackson in regards to the whole story of the recent coaching carsousels. No effort to investigate the story behind all this? Look at the recent piece by Sabedra on Braun at OG, that was really a well researched and written piece (ie. journalism).

Real “journalism” is dead now. Because of the internet, any idiot can post an article and call it “journalism”.
Anyway, Herzog is a good hire. I still think they’ll need to go down to 8 man football though.

Yeah with Daly at the helm I don’t see them going to 8 man. He wants a SBG contending team down the road that’s been clear. He is also smart enough to realize football is a huge selling point for the school and it’s livelihood and future. However there appears to be one obstacle which will hinder that.

If Casa Grande is struggling and Petaluma is just decent, where are they going to poach athletes from?

I’m with North Coast on this. I just don’t see enough talent available for St Vincent to compete for the NCL (if they go back) let alone the NCS or a SBG. I watched a few Casa games Herzog’s last year and they weren’t very well coached (players out of position on defense. No continunity on offense). Couple that with St Vincent being expensive when the quality of education at Casa or Petaluma or Analy is superior, doesn’t really bode well.

Hard to disagree on the above points. Casa almost always had superior talent, which wont be the case so this will be a good measure of coaching. My main point was Daly has a proven track record being in charge of some great programs so he knows what success looks like. www.prep2prep.com/feature.aspx?ArticleID=22458

After reading that article, I think they have a shot at building something, especially with Herzog’s ties to NCAA recruitment. But the article does say St Vincent is going the NCLII. Who is in that league? Did I miss them bringing it back?

Looking at the Coastal Mountain site, it looks they they may have received a ban from NCL I for 4 years and NCL III for 2 years. There is no NCL II football at the moment as the football playing schools play 8 man NCL 3 or do not have a football program. Maybe they bring the league back with new members for football in 2020, but in another article it stated they have NBL II expectations, which in my opinion is similar if not slightly below in some cases NCL I football.
