With the NCS planning on bringing in MC to the NBL in 19' this will be a great upgrade for the league.

So the NBLI will be MC, CN, Rancho, Analy and 3 others? Talk about brutal.

that would be brutal league schedules. But, I thought the league was working on 2 year deals so this would be 2020 correct?

This year the "Oak" division for football looks like this: Newman Windsor Carillo Analy Ukiah Rancho
The "Redwood" division consists of the rest of the teams minus Casa, Petaluma and Sonoma.
This is for football only as each sport is treated differently. For example, Rancho has 5 sports in Oak and 11 sports in Redwood.
These are supposed to be set for 2 years.

Analy should be in the Redwood, they could not field a Frosh team and are declining in enrollment quickly, past success screwed them over. Montgomery and Santa Rosa look like the winners as they get to compete against middle of the road to bad Division 4 and 5 teams.
MC, Ranch, and Newman is the same league is a great idea, just do not see the merit of MC in the MCAL and longer, it is at best a decent small school league with many poor teams. If MC joins the NBL, the North Bay could gain some serious credibility, as we are usually the butt of East Bay jokes.

707, I disagree. Analy belongs in the NBL top division, it is Ukiah that should not have been elevated. Analy was down last year, but its long-term prospects are much better than Ukiah.
As for lack of frosh, I did not know Analy had to discontinue. I know Sonoma Valley had to drop frosh due to lack of players. This leaves only Petaluma frosh among the SCL. But none of the SR schools have had frosh for years (due to finances, initially), so lack of frosh alone is not a sign of doom.
As for Marin Catholic--they should absolutely move to the NBL, at least in football. Do any of the MCAL have frosh teams either, except for MC? MC will have to fight very hard not to send each league game to the Mercy rule.
Talk about a zombie league, at least in terms of football--MCAL is worse than the new NBL Redwood. Even worse than the old SCL, and that says a lot.

Even worse than the old SCL, and that says a lot. Gotta disagree a bit here. Overall quality in the MCAL has been much better than the SCL and definitely deeper. Just going off the "modern SBG era" the the MCAL has placed two different teams (MC and Novato) into SBG. That is pretty rare air (Trinity and SFL are off the top of my head) SCL zero teams in the same time span and the NBL one (Newman). History of success as the section level. Well Healdsburg has reppped the SCL with 2 titles (91'and 98"). So since section playoffs started the SCL has claimed two titles, all from ONE team. Even take out MC and the MCAL teams which have won section titles (Novato, San Marin, San Rafel,Terra Linda, Justin Sienna) shows much more depth and quality to me. Future NFL players we got to watch off the top of my head, SCL I'll let you list them. San Marin: Muster, Carolan, Mike Wise, Matt Labounty, Brent Moore MC: Kahlil Bell, Goff, Laboy TL: Stacey Bailey, Greg Loberg SR: Natu Tuatagaloa Tam: Romo Bandison + they gave us Tupac lol! Just my opinion. Now what sucks is no lights! Although with SM starting this year and I think MC will be soon it will give a much better atmosphere with Friday night lights. There are some great venues with Mt. Tam prominently in the backdrop. Hell I'm just shocked at the number of post/activity on here in the last week. It has already crushed the numbers for all of last football season.

Hopefully the realignment has generated increased site activity. I thought the site was near death. LOL

bella, that is a strong list of players, I concede. And yes, Novato reached SBG but yikes they are now at Elsie Allen level. And TL and San Rafael have won section titles??? I don't recall, must have been at D4 or D5 level? If the Redwood/Drake/Tam/TL/San Rafael group has been stronger than the Piner/Sonoma/El Molino/Healdsburg/Elsie Allen group the past few years--it's not by much.
Yes, the lack of lighted fields has hurt the MCAL considerably. I've not been, but most day games draw 200-300 tops, as I understand.
I am curious how many MCAL schools have frosh teams--707 or bella, you know?

This was Rancho's Frosh schedule last year: Granada (Livermore, CA) Campolindo (Moraga, CA) River City Junior Varsity San Leandro (San Leandro, CA) Casa Grande (Petaluma, CA) Ukiah (Ukiah, CA) Petaluma (Petaluma, CA) Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa, CA)
I believe Marin Catholic was on the schedule and cancelled.
2018 schedule so far: Vintage Analy San Marin Marin Catholic Cardinal Newman Windsor Ukiah

The new Vine Valley League teams all have a Frosh program besides Justin Siena, I think Sonoma still has one? CN, RC, Ukiah, Windsor, (Analy?) is all thats left of Frosh football in the NBL, SM and MC are in the NBL Frosh League.
Drake/SR/Novato were all worse than Elsie Allen last year, going by Calpreps. Shoot the AAA in the city might be playing better football than the MCAL minus MC right now. The old SCL was very bad as well, the NBL II should be better. On a side note, Piner has lights, finally!
