I think it's time. A lot of coaches have said it but nobody makes it happen. So for entertainment reasons pick the leagues that you think would make sense....I know, I know but even with the privates. Or if you want excluded the privates and put them against each other in their own league.,,,kinda like the playoff..lol.
True North Bay League: put the top teams here:
SCL: put the second tier here:
MCAL: could leave the smaller schools in and put the top teams in the NBL.
Just for conversation, the leagues could review every three years or something....anyway we need to stop the lopsided league games..if you schedule non league and get whipped oh well thats on you....

I dont know the Marin teams so I am going to throw out a realigned NBL/SCL. NBL: Newman, Monty, Rancho, Petaluma, Casa, Carrillo, S.R.H.S., Windsor SCL: Analy, Healdsburg, Elmo, Elsie, Sonoma, Ukiah, Piner, The SCL would be more competitive for the teams instead of getting pancaked 50-0 all the time. The winner of the NBL would be so battle tested against great competition I bet they would win the section title 75% of the time.

well nblfan, you have a decent grouping, but I have to disagree with your reasoning. The NBL has the big problem with blowouts all the time, not the SCL. Granted, ElMo has been on the bottom end of some blowouts over the years, but in the NBL, Elsie, Piner, SR have taken numerous bad beatings over the years, and all seven public NBLers have been consistently stomped by Newman. So it is the NBL that is unbalanced and needs a competitive lineup. Maybe SRHS should swap with Ukiah, tho, in your grouping.
I like the idea of integrating the "top" MCAL schools in the NBL, and the "mid" in the SCL. Yes, there are historical matchups, etc., so my second suggestion is to have "football only" conferences, and the rest of the sports can stay more or less the same. It's only football where the blowouts are not only emotionally humiliating, but physically dangerous to the students, too. (well, for the losing side, that is.)

You mean keep Elsie where they are? Take Elsie and Santa Rosa and trade them for Casa and Petaluma.

Realign and let the private schools play each other. That way we don't care about them having an all county team as compared to public schools. and the arguement that they have great coaching...well their coaches are good but were never ever even close when any of them were coaching at public schools. check them out past and present. no where near the records....cronin at piner with some good players only average....one of CN coaches from El molino couldn't buy at win...and the list goes on from past coaches .....

Keep in mind when Tony Siaz was coaching at El Mo, he didnt have the support, facilities, or collective coaching staff that Cronin does now. Its like apples and oranges. One coach cannot just change an entire program. If Cronin or some other great coach were to go to Richmond HS, they would still go somewhere around 0-10. The facilities and admin support can kill a team just the same as lack of interest.
I would support the private schools in their own league, but not for the reason that they are private. Just like the Central Section has the West Catholic Athletic League, a league with private schools in the NCS would be pretty cool.

Just for fun: I don't care for the private schools playing public schools. no offense meant...
"Keep in mind when Tony Siaz was coaching at El Mo, he didnt have the support, facilities, or collective coaching staff that Cronin does now."- His asst. coach was from rancho.,, very good coach...great community nice school. They have lights and a nice field. "Its like apples and oranges"...they all go to the same playoffs
"One coach cannot just change an entire program"..I disagree it's the head coaches job... "If Cronin or some other great coach were to go to Richmond HS, they would still go somewhere around 0-10. The facilities and admin support can kill a team just the same as lack of interest."- I agree but it happens as they say with wins comes support. again I don't want to offend anyone just don't like people saying it is anywhere near fair.

Dont know who you are, but I already like talking football with you...
Rancho is a good program, but just because Tony had a coach who is an assistant there, doesnt mean the program should have been the best. Some coaches make great position coaches, but not the best head coaches. Nothing against Tony, but with his given situation, he did not perform the way everyone would have hoped. (That could happen to anyone, so again, I love ya Tony). El Mo has a nice community, but Newman has an entire legacy behind them. CN has a much better tradition and history behind them than El Mo does. I enjoy games at El Mo, but have you been there during a rain game? Lets say the yard markers can be used as flotation devices. They just got the snack bar, so that wasnt there when Tony was around. El Mo's facilities are okay, but are not hte best in the world. Mix that with an admin that like football, but knows El Mo isnt known for football, and you get a program thats just average. Maybe not apples and oranges, but at minimum Newman to El Mo is like apple to pears (lol). Newman plays at a higher level of playoffs and experiences a higher level of success. A big big part of that is the school, admin, and the whole 'private' part of it.
I dont know about fair, but Newman does play up, and they play some tough opponents.
I dont know about anyone else, but I would very much enjoy seeing a North Catholic Athletic League: Cardinal Newman Bishop O'Dowd Salesian St. Pat/St. Vin St. Marys Marin Catholic Justin Siena
Thats a league as big as the SCL. No school is smaller than about 600.

Elsie should be moved and swapped with Windsor. Losing Newman to a all private league i think would not be a good idea. If We were talking Stomping NBL teams for ten years straight then good idea. Newman will have it's down years just as every other team in the NBL.

I think Newman would dominate the above stated Catholic League more than they do the NBL. While there would not be a "Elsie Allen" in that league, those schools are not even close to the level of CN in football. Although it would be a very competitive basketball league.
