No way, it was the Egg Bowl with Petaluma pulling it off at the end. The teams were so closely matched and the fans were so in to it.

Pulma Newman for sure. GW TD on the last play! The egg bowl was good too. H-burg Acalanes was great! Healdsburg scored w/ 20 seconds left and instead of going for the lie they went for the two point conversion. They converted on a halfback pass.

No way I could say anything but Newman vs Palma. I was reviewing the 2008 articles and came across that article; it was like reliving it all over again. The final play was amazing. The whole game was neck and neck, both teams did a greast job, its too bad there had to be a loser in such a performance.

Palma will be out for revenge this year. I wonder if they graduated many seniors . I'll be there for sure for this one.

They had a 9-1 JV, and bring back 8 starting positions, I dont know how many starting players are actually returning. The quick little RB, Oliveria is coming back. I heard the lost a lot on their line, but Palma should have no problem making playoffs. Newman is going to have to bring their A game.

I wouldn't worry about the Palma O-line. It could be their strength this year since Dalhman came back to coach them!!

CN v Palma this coming season should be another good game.
This coming season Palma offense should be well balanced and maybe a tadd better running offense. They changed their offense and will probably run more with Dahlman back coaching the line. He is a former Palma student and teacher. Dahlman was line coach at Stanford last season and came back to town to be closer to family since he got tired of the commute to Palo Alto from Salinas. I believe SJ State which is closer offered him a job to coach their line when they heard he wanted to be closer to home, but he went back to Palma. He was a big reason for Stanford's running success emergence. He also coached line at the Atlanta Falcons prior to that during the Vick years. He was a starter on the 49ers and has a superbowl ring and I believe 2 out 3 years he coached Palma line they won CCS D1 championship.
Palma returns:
RB/DB, Justin Olivarria- he's pretty strong for a small back (not so small at 5-9, 180). He benched around 305 in the phase one maxes for weight training earlier in the summer and pound per pound is the strongest kid on the team. Runs a 4.5 40. Not sure of the recruiting interest, but he will be one of the top RBs in CCS next season. He will play somewhere after high school if he stays healthy. Last season his stats were carries 144 Yards 1033 TDs 10, receptions 20 yards 288 TDs 3 ; all Monterey County as RB.
WR/RB, Bruce Taylor, Slot/DB, 5-10, 175, 4.6 40, all TCAL/co-junior of the year and all county as DB. He's a big playmaker and multi-talneted athlete.
TE/WR/LB, Garret Taylor, Sr, TE/WR/LB, 6-3, 190, is a very talented TE
QB, Austin Fales, 6-0, 180, backup to brother of last seasons QB. As a JV he was a prolific passer and is quicker than his brother. He isn't a D1A plyer due to size, but he should be a very good highschool QB and could play JC or lower level. He has a strong and accurate arm and can hit the the long pass accurately and leads his receivers extremely well. He tarins with the top QBs in the area and could emerge as a top QB in the CCS.
There are other skill players that could emerge from the senior class and JVs/ Also there is a soph RB who will be a star, but most likely will learn the ropes under the seniors or juniors.
Line will not be huge but returns...Colby Varley (6-1, 240) and Max Gibbons (6-2, 235) Omar Masarweh (6'1" 245). Junior Brandon Pulealii, (6'0 295) the strongest player on the team will anchor the defensive line and probably play some offense.
Defense: DBs return most of their players with a couple of the top JV playsrs strarting or getting substanytial time. DBs will be bigger and quicker than last season.
LBs return a couple of players that started or had significant time. Jon Andrus, 6-3, 205 and G. Taylor. Two last seasons JV that will be juniors will step up to play LB (Robert Foy and Blair Gardiner). Last season's JV coach has stated the two juniors are two of the best LBs he's ever coached and Palma has several LBs that have played D1A ball.
The kicking game should be levels above last season at placekicking and field goals.
On defense,
