Im pretty sure he didn't play. Monty had about 5 kids sit out. I know Sims sat out for Petaluma and Sullivan had about 3 carries. Newman vs Casa will be interesting. I really wana see how Sherry does at quarterback for Casa

I know he was on varsity as a sophomore and had good playing time. Tall kid. 6 ft. 4 or 5. Could have a good career in both sports for the Gauchos

All I can say is that Montgomery looked terrible. they couldn't move the ball at all. AND they ran several running plays. Most were either broken plays that weren't even run how they were supposed to be run, or they were over at the line of scrimmage. What was up with that STUPID option play to the slot WR. My guess is that they'll go back to their old offense week three. Although they have (what I heard) the worst practice plans in the Empire. They scrimmage (Full go!) all practice long. No Drills.
Just to let it be known. Their linemen are big, but terrible. They cut block, but don't get anyone down. Sorry to all of the "Homers".

I didn't think it was boring at all. I have no connection to these schools with the exception we will be playing one of them this year. I didn't know much about Casa Grande before hand but man I have to tell you this. The tall quarterback shredded the Neman defense. He picked apart the secondary. I will say the newmn secondary is not anything like they have been in the past but they arnt bad either. Casa had trouble running the ball up the gut because of the stud Newman has at the nose. He's a beast. But then Casa answered back with bubble screens to the oustide and for big gains. Casa could use some ol work but it's early in the year. I think Casa scored 5 times before I left. Casa Grande has a great back too. He's built well and quick. Newman again didn't give up much on the ground up the middle but this kid only ran a handfull of times. Newman didn't look great on offense either. Their qb is gonna be good. He's fast and will lower his shoulder to run a player over. But the Casa defensive front played well and kept him inside the picket be didn't give mny alleys. He had one long run before Cronnin took him out. He tried throwing to the big Newman receiver but the little corner playing on him shut him down. I think they threw to him 5 times for one completion. Newman had some sucess with a screen but when Casa didn't blitz they shut that down too. My final thought is Newman is not like they have been on the past but they ate not bad. They are well coached and good teams they will keep frustrated. Newman will be great in a year or so (the jv looked awesome). They need some defense work and secondary needs to play alot better. I think Casa Grande fans should be excited. They have some small fixes but damn they are fast andhave some talent. Casas qb is unbelievable. As for the td at the end I must have left. I didn't see it. I'm sure it was a great run but it was the last play of a scrimmage. Enough said. Newman also has a fairly physical full back. If these teams play 10 times I go with Casa 8. They are that good. Not that Newmn is bad. They are a damn good team too. Casa is just better.

I was at the scrimmage. Novato was by far the best team there. Petaluma looked very good on defense vs Novato. I was suprised how bad Montgomery looked especially on offense. I thought San Marin suprised Petaluma early and beat Sullivan deep a few times. Healdsburg looked decent. They are well coached and quick. Also remember Ricky Sims Petalumas best 2 way player was out with a seperated shoulder and Sullivan suffered a slight concussion. If Petaluma has these 2 there a different team. Russell didn't look to hot! All in all I think Petaluna will be strong this year.

If Newman played 1st team O and first team D ?It looked like a mixture out there . plus it was a scrimmage ,very relaxed .Did you say casa didnt blitz?i think isaw like five times they sent em down the middle.Newman didnt send any lb's on a blitz.Cant wait tilll next weekend then we'll see.

For the 1st 15-20 plays looked like both teams had all starters on the field. Casa scored 3 times. 1 on a deep bomb, 1 on a short pass and 1 on a hard nosed run by their RB. I didn't see Newman even get inside the redzone. Your correct Casa did blitz I said that in my last post. They blitzes about 50% of the time. Newman also blitzed. I was charting the plays from the stands and Newman blitzed every time Casa was in single back motioned to single back. Both these teams looked good. Both will be in playoffs. Both should compete for league championships. I can see these teams meeting again like week 12 or 13. Good luck to all. Can't Waite for some football tonight!

Newmwn was not advancing the ball during the scrimmage, they kept re-setting the ball back to the 30 yard after every play. On defense the secondary only showed one formation and did not adjust during the scrimmage. Central Catholic scouts were there and Newman wasn't about to show anything
