It is very unlikely that CN and Monty will play in the first round. The seeding committee has always tried to avoid first round match-ups with teams from the same league.

Which is stupid if you ask me. Seed the teams in the order they deserve, not to get specific match ups.
Unless Newman wins out, I dont think they can make playoffs. If the lose to Rancho and beat Carrillo, those three teams will be in a three way (head to head) tie. Rancho will have the better record and go ahead of Newman. If the opposite happens, Rancho and Carrillo will go ahead of Newman. If they win over Carrillo and Rancho, but fall to Ukiah, a 5-5 Newman team will be hard pressed to make a 12-team field.

I agree with you (all the way around), unless a pair of teams are seen as a virtual toss up in the seedings, in which case I can understand the desire to keep league teams from meeting in the first round, but other than that situation, it should be as objective as possible, without regard to who will play who.

It is possible that the element of surprise and complete inability to have previously scouted this offensive scheme by Rancho made Newman more successful...of course, they can also be expected to get better at it/with it as they play more games using it. Montgomery would by the time they might play again have an opportunity to design a defense to combat it - which does not necessarily mean they can stop it, but I think it is too early to conclude that Newman's new offense is suddenly a juggernaut that cannot be stopped - and Newman still has to get by Carillo and Ukiah...likely, but not a given. Nobody really thought Santa Rosa had a chance against Montgomery and they nearly pulled off an upset.

I dont know, everytime i got for Newman when they play Monty, they seem to lose, so Ill just sit back and watch. I doubt they will rematch though.
I'd put Montgomery at a number 5 seed, so if that happens, then they would have to play the number 12 seed. If Newman finishes 6-4, I dont think they will be banished that far down. number 1-8 is pretty solid, the top 5 teams are pretty much set, and then the following three are good to go. The next 4 aera toss up, but with this win over Rancho, and a possible win over Carrillo, Newman should get better than 12. Maybe 10ish...
