Someone asked and here is what I got..and to tell you the truth I'm surprised I have so much in depth...I guess I could feel something special was about to happen..
Rancho took over the ball at their own 26 with 1:16 left.
They completed a 5 yard pass and a four yard pass and then there was an unsportsmanlike penalty to move it to midfield.
Comment No. 1: That happened right in front of me and I wasn't sure what was called. Someone mentioned a horse collar...I didn't see that but could of happened.
They had the ball at midfield and then an incomplete pass was when I started keeping track. :35 left.
Next was the 25 yard pass to Mossi to the 25 yard line...clock stopped with :27 for a first down....
Then a spike. Clock at :23.
Comment No. 2: :04 for a spike seems about the right time...Clock will run before the snap even if they are getting lined up and ready to go.
Note: I didn't do the tenths until the very end. Could of been a little more then :04 or a little less.
Next play incomplete pass. Clock at :17
Then came the play...I do know that the clock was stopped with 5.6 left. That means that play took a little over 11 seconds. You can judge if that is long...Dropping back to pass, throws, the catch was over the middle between the 10-15 and the run to the sideline where he was out of bounds. But the clock was stopped at 5.6.
Then came the spike....which surprised me...since the clock was stopped. After the spike 4.8.
So the difference between the end of the disputed play and the spike was .8.....
That tells me the clock didn't start until the snap.
Maybe it ran a little long after the play. But it didn't run after the ball was spotted....or face it the clock would of ran out.
I'd really like to see the video of the play in question...
