Sounds like it came down to the wire. Three and out at the goal line and a missed FG at the end.
I know Bella is saying it goes in cycles but I think the SJS has been very competitve for quite awhile now. I truly feel they are playing at a different level all around then the NCS. Their D. II is extremely more impressive then the NCS. All this talk about Eureka, they would get handled by a Rocklin or Del Oro or St. Mary's.
Its just to bad all these teams have to beat each other to get to State.

Yeah dynomite your right the "cycle" has been going on for a few years. In years past it seems the SJS would have good top qulity programs (Grant, EG, Merced, Atwater, NU etc) but there would be a big drop off below that.
To me the thing that has happpened in the SJS has been alot of new schools coming in and the overall quality rising almost overnight. Usually when new schools open it can be disatorous for more established school (Fontana is the perfect example). Schools like Inkerdum, VDL, Whitney etc.) have come in and been very competitive and raised the bar overall. Although a few traditional powers like EG have suffered a little.
A team like GB, is another good example. I think it is safe to say they have already established themselves as a power in the SJS and now Nor Cal. GB is about what 15 years old?
Look at the newest schools in Sonoma County (EA, Windsor, Carillo) been around about the same period of time and I think it's safe to say they have not quite established themselves as nor cal powers.
To me the SJS seems to be farther ahead of the NCS.

There were 4 teams maybe 5 in the SJS DII bracket that could have competed for a state title this year. Grant will move up to DI next year and return a young team. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 out of the 5 teams come from the SJS next year come state bowl time.
