The Sac-Joaquin section is just playing a different caliber of football than the rest of Nor-Cal. If the North has a shot at winning state games, its going to be teams from that section.
D. II
Del Oro 30 - St. Marys 29
Congrats to Del Oro.
D. IV
If Modesto Christian beats Central Catholic next Friday, then goes on to win the D. IV title, would they go to the state game as D. III or small schools? Either way, big game next friday in the valley

Should be interesting in their division with Central Catholic playing a tough opponent.
If Central Catholic wins, they would take the Div. III spot, once again, and that would open the slot up for Ferndale for the small school bowl.

dynomite the SJS is just playing better ball this year, wiht several strong teams. NCS and CCS are down. But these thinghs go in cycles. The CCS is going to be really strong the next 2-3 years.
Obviously Grant gives Norcal a great shot at a SBG title (still they have to get through a brutal SJS DII bracket). But I think the team that is playing great and could win a SBG is DLS. I saw them at MV a few weeks ago and then went to the game last night against Foothill. Complete 180, Mannion was sacked 6 times in the 1st half alone and they are physical.

MC needs to be selected as the Small Schools North team, sending Ferndale would be good for FHS and for small schools everywhere but it would just be a repeat of last year. MC stands a much better chance against Parker and I'll be willing to bet the CIF knows this as well.

Speaking of WOW.......
Del Oro rallied back after being down four TD's to beat Folsom. But it sounds even more exciting than that. After scoring a TD with under a minute to play, DO went for two to give them a one point lead rather than settle for a tie. And they converted. Only tohave Folsom drive for a potential game winning FG that hit the crossbar. I can't image how crazy that game must have been to watch.

Yeah Folsom really choked. Up 35-7 only to lose. DO recovered 2 consecutive on side kicks. But, the SJS DII is just really loaded this year (Grant, Folsom, DO, SM etc.). The difference is really glaring compared to the NCS DII this year. I'd say any if the the final four of the SJS would be at least a 3 touchdown favorite of over any of the NCS DII teams (Eureka, Pet, Casa, Monty). Just a good year for the SJS altogether, and the NCS and CCS are down. These things go in cycles though so it is year to year.

Whats unfortunate with the selection system is that four of our best chances to win State Bowl games are all in this Div.
So the Section Champ is essentially eliminating three possible State teams in Open, D. I and D. II divisions.

Eureka could beat any of the SJS teams this year except maybe Grant. They are that good.

Eureka is very good. And they could beat the SJS teams, but I'd say that is very doubtful. This year the SJS is just much stronger.

From what i've been told, Modesto CAN be selected as a D. III school. If they are selected, they can't decline the move. Which will definetly hurt the North's chances for a Bowl win.
If MC goes for the Small they have a great shot vs Parker. Whoever goes for D. III is just being sacrificed to Oaks. Hopefully the selection commitee sees this. Even though the commitee just goes by the numbers......

Rocklin, who is a really good team, beat Grant last night in somewhat of an upset. This sets up a rematch for the D2 bracket between Rocklin and Del Oro and paving the way for the winner to likely get the Bowl invite.
