If Casa or Petaluma are in the title game I believe it will be played at Rancho. If the game is Montgomery vs Eureka, the game will probably be at Santa Rosa High.

A Casa-Eureka game give Eureka "territorial advantage". And this is a quote the Eureka coach said last week after their win ”There comes a point when you gotta leave Albee Stadium,” Montana said. “If we go down there and take care of business, maybe we can come back here for one more game.”

Rumor! Innuendo! Perhaps it hinges upon the higher seed (again, back to this) as to where the game takes place, although this would somewhat fly in the face of a "neutral" field...so that the highest seed in the finals would have the game "closest" to home. This could be why Eureka had the championship game in '03 near home, because I believe they were the top seed that year. If this is the case, then Eureka is we know where without a paddle, because even if they are possibly the best team standing, they are the lowest seed of the final four....and this in no way explains, or addresses the comment by the Eureka coach about coming back home for one more game...that throws a definite monkey wrench into this scenario.
Maybe someone can contact Les Schwab (is there really a guy named Les Schwab??) and find out...

Even if Eureka beats Petaluma, the championship game will still be in the Santa Rosa area, because it goes to higher seed. In 2003, Eureka was the #1 seed, which is why it was played at Humboldt State. By the way, Eureka will be in Div. 3 next year because their enrollment this year is below 1400. Believe me, Eureka hates playing these teams twice a year, but that's what the league wants. If McKinleyville would sack up and go back up to the Big 5, then we wouldn't have this problem.

McKinleyville needs a few years off, and a consistant coach to help the program and stick around. Then they can move back up.

NCS officials have told me if Petaluma or Casa is involved in the championship it will be at Rancho. If it is Montgomery vs Eureka it will be at Santa Rosa high school.

I think Rancho would be the better site for the game.

The local high school football publication lists the capacity at SR High at 2,000 and 2,800 at Rancho...this surprises me, as they appear to be virtually the same layout/construction, but as I can only assume this is accurate, then the site plans as noted above makes sense. Any championship game involving 2 Sonoma County teams is far more likely to be attended by more fans than any game in which Eureka was involved...but this is not quite as logical if the championship is between Casa and Eureka. However, I still think that, especially if it is a rematch of Casa and Petaluma, and to a slightly lesser degree, Monty vs. Petaluma, that even a 2,800 seat venue would be overflowing, and it could use an even larger venue, like SRJC.

I like the Rancho field a whole lot better. There is a much bigger paved area between the ticket booth and the snack area. Plenty of room and so much more room in the stands. Much be all the room on the visitor side.

My info also came from the NCS.

As for the Les Schwab reference...whadda you think? As the whole NCS is sponsored by Les Schwab Tires and has the name in front of all the official playoff websites, his name is all over the place, it just seemed natural to think about contacting the ENTITY of the Les Schwab NCS sponsor, not necessarily the guy himself, which would be difficult as he passed away more than 2 years ago.
Yes, I was kidding.

What really sucks is having 3 NCS (DII, DII, DIV) games played on the same night with teams having some local rooting interest. I understand the DIII game being played in the east bay since Enical is the higher seed and league champ.
But I don't know why the NCS couldn't have split some of the games to Fri./Sat. Or better yet why not do a double header DIV at 5:30 and DII at 7:30-8:00. You already pay $9.00, just make it $15.00 for both games. They do it for NCS soccer (DI & DIII). There have been double headers for the championships at SR high for several years. The only drawback is having a little bigger facility. SRJC is great, but it is grass, which could be a mess by the second game (but football should be played on grass). Still I think it kind of cheats the fans that would like to see both games and have to make a decision.

I agree bella I think the NCS is dumb schedualing both games on a Friday. Another thing to throw in there is it would definitally be better for Eureka if the NCS held the game on Saturday, then the players would not have to miss so much school. Now with the game being tomorrow it forces the Eureka players to miss two days of school (as I understand Eureka is staying in a hotel tonight.) If the game were Saturday Eureka could have just taken off right after school on Friday and it would have been a lot easier on the players. Remember they are STUDENTS first, football second.
