I heard today that John Antonio is going to leave Casa Grande after the season to be the defensive coordinator at Piner. Hawaii QB and former Piner player Greg Alexander is going to return to Piner as the QB coach while he rehabs his knee injury. Both those guys are great guys and will make a fabulous addition to that staff.

I wonder if Antonio will bring Harrington with him? I know that they are connected and Kevin has told me him and Antonio have a plan together.

Where did you hear this? I can believe Alexander but Antonio I doubt. I was told he was staying at Casa if he contiues to coach. He said he is thinking about stopping coaching to spend more time with his family.

Just curious, Is "stop coaching to spend more time with family" another way of saying "I am transfering to another program but don't want to let it out yet" just curious seem to be coming up a lot already??

I've heard a number of differnet things from a number of people, Antonio included.
One thing is for sure: He will no stop coaching! And rightfully so, he can make an impact and should keep coaching.
Casa is there for him, but I believe it was originally meant as a one year deal. It could go futher, just dont know The Piner DC job is his for the taking, he would be a great addition at Piner with Matt Tomlin. Tomlin's offense mixed with Antonios defense will move Piner away from the bottom of the NBL after a year or two. Antonio like a number of coaches might put in for the Windsor job. Maybe... maybe not.
Alexander will be at Piner next season. Funny enough the entire deal was made more than two weeks ago using only text messages!

I have heard a lot about Antonio. Where are the accolades from? What has he done? All I know is he coached at Richmond High. Am I missing the reason everyone rants about him when a position opens up?
Please, fill me in.

Antonio did very well on the pop warner side before getting into high school coaching.
I believe he got his start at St. Vincent working on defense. After a number of years there, he landed his first head coaching position at Calistoga. In a football program that didnt receieve a lot of support he earned 4 wins in 2 years, which turned out to be a start on where Calistoga is now. In '02 after Rick Hermann left the program, Antonio was left with a 1-9 team. After his second year he improved the team to 3-5. Keep in mind this was also the old alignment of the NCLs.
After that he went to Richmond and went 1-19 I think. With the absolutely terrible facilities and support from the admin, im surprised he did that well. Richmond has issues ...
Hes been coaching the D-Line at Casa and is basically one of the Empires best choices for a coach that is ready to start coaching at any program. Kinda like Ponce, but with more experience.
Hope that helps...

Sorry. My source corrected himself and said Tomlin had offered the DC job to Antonio and was waiting for an answer.
