Is it just me or were both teams afraid to run the ball last night? As a fan sitting in the stands even I could tell Casa doesnt run the ball when they're in shotgun. Not to second guess (too much), I think its a different game if either team tried to be more balanced. Casa put the game in Sherry's hands and he didnt deliver.

I really do not understand why you would not give the ball to your senior leader...Kahlil Keys. He is one of the best backs around. Casa's 2 loses...Sherry 9 INTs

I wasn't at the game last night, but I guess there wasn't much running going on... It seems that Sherry has always been overrated, but I still give credit where it is due-- he's a good QB. Where were all these passes thrown to? So much for dumping off the ball to White? Monty is going to have their hands full playing Eureka this week, it'll be a big on big matchup. However, after watching the Petaluma game I don't know that Monty is the team to stop them. Casa, helluva year, look forawrd to seeing all the juniors return next year.

Casa was not going to do significant damage on the ground against the Monty defense...eventually, they had to throw. This is also why I think that Monty has a reasonable chance against Eureka.

I don't know how reasonable their chance is, Their offense will struggle too much. When you have five picks and only 14 pionts, your offense just isn't getting it done. Good luck to Montgomery, but they have thier hands full.

There is no dispute that their offense is less than the best, but this is a team that lives (or dies) by its' defense. Did they get 5 interceptions simply by accident? 6 sacks simply by accident? Allow only 7 points to a team that averages over 30 per game just by accident? And why was Casa passing so much? Because they knew they were not going to be successful running the ball, which is about all that Eureka does...and yes, they do it very, very well, however, if they can be held in check in their running game, they are not likely to make much happen in their passing game - and this is why Monty has a shot.

I agree with tonytiger, best of luck to Monty and that's about all I can say. Everyone is just talking about Soma as a ground threat, but agaisnt Petaluma numbers 10 and 34 were running pretty good too. I heard their number two running back was hurt for that game... If any team from this area had a shot, it would have been Petaluma. I believe by far they were the best around. Petaluma ran up 40 points against Casa, and Monty could only manage 14? I know that the Monty Eurkea game will be Big On Big, but we'll have to see. I'd like to see some spread passing from both of the treams, none of this ball control running stuff, let's liven it up and start throwing some ROCKETS!!! Even petaluma passes more than Eureka, so let's make the playing field even and get some air game.

Why would two teams both stray away from their strength's? I find this illogical (The spread), does Eureka even have 4 WR's? It's all about ball control for Monty, or else this one will be over early. Really Early.

Who knows if they have the personel to run the offense, I'd say it's time we start to mix it up a bit! Once again, I know that Rancho and Petaluma are triple option teams, so why doesn't a spread team like Newman mix it up and start running the option!? THis is high shcool football, why don't the coaches live it up a little.
As for Monty and ball control, terrible idea. Just throw bombs all night and pick on Eurke's secondary.

I don't understand your thinking, "Johnny". Passing teams should pound the ground, and running team should take to the sky like "rockets"? It's all about personnel. Yes, those big lineman from Monty probably can pass block, but why not try to grind Eureka down with those monsters up front. In my opinion that's their chance at winning, if any at all.
As for mixing it up... The option has got to be hard to just "mix it up" and run the option. The speed option is one thing, but a triple option like Rancho's has got to be complex. If passing for Eureka or Monty came in moderation, that could be a good factor towards winning. But derailing from the gameplan those teams have had all year would be suicide.

hsfbfan: I'm not saying that Monty's defensive numbers are by accident, I'm just saying that a decent offense would have scored on at least three of those five turnovers, and their offense only scored once if I'm not mistaken. One score on five off of five turnovers is a red signal to me that this offense wont keep up with Eureka, and isnt good enough for a championship. Yes defense wins championships, but the offense at montgomery is not only their weakness, it almost seems like a liability. Hope Monty proves me wrong, but I think late game heroics wont be even close to enough this week.

The monty offense is CLEARLY their weakness, and a liability...with a consistent offense, this team would...well, they'd be right where they are anyhow! In the championship game! Yet, somehow, throughout the year, this "liablility" has not prevented them from getting to where they are and the offense really is, while to put it mildly, inconsistent, actually is very capable of moving the ball, through the air and on the ground - they just have had very few games where they have done this consistently, or repeatedly. If they can do it a few times, the defense can keep them in the game. I would be very surprised to see Eureka score 30+ points and they may not even score 20 - and if monty can keep them around 20, anything is possible.
