He is slated to be the 3rd QB picked in the draft, I hope he is as good as Jamarcus Russell

You know he was 19 during that bowl game against CN. He has not produced at ND and I don't expect him to produce in the NFL. When the commentators briefly spoke of a possible Heisman consideration, I seriously considered giving up my interest in college football if he was nominated, lol. What a joke...if goes in the first round I will be shocked. Maybe on day 2 of the draft, round 4 or 5.
BTW...the best thing that happened today was the nomination of a DEFENSIVE TACKLE for consideration....guy from Nebraska....tossed McCoy to the turf like a ragdoll, lol.

James "the ostrich" Clausen 2009 289 425 3722 68.0 8.76 88 28 4 161.43 You see that 28 Td's and 4 ints....7:1 ration...thats insane! never ever ever ever in my life have i seen stats like that and had that player be called "non productive" If you spent 10 minutes watching ND its obvious the problem was the defense.....golden tate, michael floyd, Randolph and clausen lit people up all year long

Of all the overrated QB's Notre Dame has had since Joe Montana, Claussen's praise may be more deserving than anyone's. As mc415 states, his numbers are impressive. And keep in mind, Notre Dame's offensive line isn't very good.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's going to be a good pro. I gave up predicting how college QB's were going to do in the NFL after I thought Chuck Long of Iowa was a sure fire NFL Hall of Famer back in the mid-1980's. But Clausen had a pretty darn good season this year. And not only do I dislike Notre Dame, Clausen really bugged me during that CN game. So it's not as if I enjoy coming to his defense.

Don't really like Clausen. Actually thought he was a dick when they played Newman. I also thought he was overated coming out of high school. Saw him play his junior year and then saw him on T.V. a few times his senior year. But I have to agree with penguin and mc415. I think he has improved alot, epecially this year, playing for an alright ND team. His accuracy has been great. I don't know if he is a top 5 pick, but definately a 1st rounder.

I think everyone hated him in the Northbay when they played CN! He was actually pushing 20 years old in that game. From what I read, he started kindergarten a year late and his parents held him back the year before high school. Do you think he was raised by football "stage parents?"
I thought he was over rated but he clearly had (and has) all the physical traits to be successful. As much as I hate to say it, I think he has all the traits to be a good pro QB, too.
I am just thankful that Smith is posting the numbers he is for the Niners. They could have been QB hunting next year and it would be tough to have to get behind that kid in red and gold.

Clausen will be a bust in the NFL. I hope some LB on his own team punches him in the mouth the first time he pops off.

Huge mistake JC. Finish your school time, get a degree and allow more time to become a better QB. He needs it.

I think another yeart of college would benefit Clausen as a quarterback. But with the possible NFL rookie salary cap looming for '11 it wouldn't be smart from a financial standpoint.
Also look what happened to Bradford. I'm sure Clausen and others will look at the benefits compared to the risk of coming out early. As much as I am for school, I think if Calusen really wants a degree he can always go back and get it.

JC may be the best in the world at throwing a fade at the pylons. Problem is the rest of his throws are average at best.
Tate was a huge reason behind JC's numbers. Tate will have a better pro career. Golden is in the mold of Steve Smith from Carolina.

My son and I started following Jimmy when he was a junior in high school. We were attending a football camp at Cal Lutheran and heard a lot about him and his team lineage. Clausen did better at college than I thought he would. He was almost 20 when he arrived as a college freshman. The landscape of high school football would be very different around here if our teams played kids that were 18 and 19.
Weiss double kicked Notre Dame by coaching Jimmy to leave. Sweet bit of revenge.
Clausen has been groomed for a long time to go pro. Hopefully playing at Notre Dame humbled him a bit.
