I like it Guido. Never to early to talk football. I am already excited for 2010 season. I am going to give my opinion on every team you just talked about. CN- will be very good next year and I predict they will win NBL. young players got good experience on varsity this past season and their jv team was dominant. Monty- Very powerful on the offense and defense line next year with massive size and strength. Great back in Ciudad-Real and improved at QB with top flight junion Danny Mc???spelling. Predict 2nd in nbl and two playoff wins. Petaluma- great 2009 season!!! but started 20 something seniors so I have to imagine they are rebuilding this year. Windsor- so much talent in the program right now I think they win SCL title in 2010. I predict 2 playoff wins as well. Analy- lost three good wr's which made their offense go. I predict 5-5 or 4-6 in 2010. Casa- consistently good and no different in 2010. I just dont think they top Windsor this year. Will definately be a playoff team though. Carillo- Atoe Atoe Atoe. Best player in the county in 2010. I say 6-4 and slide into playoffs. Piner- 2-8 four straight seasons. Open at section champ Eureka?? They will improve by 2 wins this year. I say 4-6.

Monty - Losing a lot of key players all over, but should be fine. I would think they will run any offense they want. Franci likes to run behind that hugh line he has, and Meredith likes to spread it out and give the QB some control. Monty should do very well in 2010, opening with Windsor will be a great game!
Newman - Going back to the spread and rightfully so. The JV was amazing last season and beat Central Catholic and Palma. Opening season defensive problems should be a thing of the past at least next season, but offense is another thing. Nearly the entire offense is going, and Matt Sullivan is largely unknown, considering his wins came against Piner, Elsie Allen, Santa Rosa, etc.
Rancho Cotate - Peteti-Gore and Dworkin, end of story. Rancho will be better at the I-veer than ever. Defense should do well and some good juniors should work for the team as well. I figure Conroy has a few years left at least. Kevin Harrington is still at Rancho and should help their line work even better.
Carrillo - Atoe all day, but Carrillo sure did lose a lot of talent. Who ever they have at QB should be able to pass as well. The Carrillo JV has had some great success in the recent years and if that talent can keep going on varsity, MC will be right there.
Ukiah - No idea, but Schuller is the right man for the job, Ukiah will get better and should be in the NBL mix within a few years. As for 2010, Ukiah should be right around .500 I would think.
Piner - Sophomore QB next season will help Piner in the future. Regardless of the playbook, Tomlin has expressed he doesnt want a one trick offense, so Piner will pass and run. Could be spread, option, toss, wing-T, fly, just about anything. Piner has the talent and the school district will begin getting a retaining these students in the future. Tomlin has already showed that he can make offense happen. Didnt have a lot on defense to work with, having a number of inexperienced players all over the field. Things are going to improve, but in my opinion, Eureka is a mistake on the schedule.
Santa Rosa - Look for SR to make a move in 2010, by beating a few NBL teams. I'd put Elsie, Piner, Carrillo, and Ukiah in the direct crosshairs. SR should gain some wins and keeping Keefer there is a 100% need.
Elsie Allen - No idea, but Elsie did have a hard time gaining numbers for this seasons squad.

nice break down so far. Ben, whats your thoughts on the SCL? ohhhhh! and what is going on with Elsie Allen? i've heard rumors that they might drop down a league to be more competitive?? any truth to that? would make sense until their program got better. which brings me to another thought........ how long are the Healdsburgs and El Molinos gonna be going against the Casas and Windsors and Petalumas? in the last few years there has been dramatic changes in enrollment! Casa has 1,000 more students than H-town. i mean, props to healdsburg for always being towards the top of the league(TK is a blessing to that community), but there is a HUGE disadvantage with that do to "talent pools". is this being addressed??? im sure the schools were much closer when the SCL was aligned, but its been a LOOOONG time since then. time to adapt......

guido I can see what you are saying about Healdsburg, but you have to give those guys credit they play those bigger schools very well. It is very evident to me anyway, that Healdsburg has developed a program that is good year in and year out. Also think about this if they were to go down a division like to the NCL-north, they would destroy most of the teams in there. It just would not be right to do that to the other schools.
My thoughts about the SCL is that it will not be as competitive as last season. Casa Grande will steam-roll just about everybody in league. I'm not sold on Windsor, I hear they have a pretty good QB coming up from JV but he's not DJ King and the offense struggled without DJ in the line-up. A team to watch is Analy, look for there QB to much more mature than last season. Of course there is Healdsburg, but I actually think they may have a bit of a down year this year, they have a bunch of solid players leaving and they have some questions marks at the QB position. Elmo, Sonoma, and Petaluma will be in the bottom of the standings this year. Petaluma had 20 seniors leave off that great team from last year but .500 isn't out of the question. Same with SV they just need to be more Consistent. Elmo well, sorry but it looks like another long year for you guys.

As for Elsie Allen, I've heard a little but not a lot. Elsie will stay in the NBL for at least another two seasons until the leagues are reorganized. Very hard to get Elsie out of the NBL, all programs including Elsie would have to agree on paper and NCS would have to agree. Would be great if the NBL adopted the same thing the MCAL did, as in the top team doesnt schedule the team that finished last in league.
Analy - I really look forward to seeing Analy again, their offense is something special. Glass and now Zanutto passing the ball everywhere! I can only hope Analy finds a running game, even if its the end around or WR sweep, because Zanutto cant do it all. Analy has and will continue to do well in the non-league. Playing Petaluma and Healdsburg will be two great games to see! Look for Analy's defense to get better and a young line work well in 2010.
Casa Grande - Come on, Casa is going to hurt people next season. Oden is fast but tries to do too much. When (not if) he gets a little room, hes going to gain a lot of yards. Only chance is to use some speed or SOMETHING to not let him turn the corner, other than that, good luck on stopping Casa's running game. I believe like in all past seasons, they will have a smash mouth back to go with that speed. Sherry is by far the best QB in the area, theres simply no question of that. With some great coaching, his line will be solid, and the one and only Tyler White is coming back at TE. Casa's offense won't even need a coach to win games, but they have a great one. Herzog will have no problem working with his defense to be just as impressive as the offense.
Healdsburg - After a season the lost a lot to graduation, they played well and guess what... they just lost a lot to graduation again. With the fundamentals being built into these athletes, Healdsburg will be stocked again, and with one of the better varsity head coaches in the area, Hburg will be right there in the SCL mix. I'd put em at second or third.
El Molino - I think 2010 could be a great season for El Molino. I dont see them finishing second like Ive seen in this thread, but they at least have the potential to not be last. Depends on a lot of factors, but looking at key positions, the offense should do just fine. Defense will be where a successful season rests; could be good, but could be bad.
Petaluma - League champ? No, not in 2010. Lost everything, and Petaluma doesnt have a track record going for them anyway. They arent Montgomery or Cardinal Newman so they will indeed need to rebuild and not reload. After watching their JV a few times, and seeing whos coming back, I'd put them right around .500, but even so could get the short end of the stick on that and fall to 4-6. And this is nothing about losing coach Ellison, this is just a program that has lost so much talent that it will be impossible to rebound with another league title, not with Casa and Windsor having such a strong class.
Sonoma Valley - Passing game decides this one. The running game is going to be great with Muslim running the ball. Ive only seem him once, but wow, he can make things happen is can be a real team leader. Last season one of the reasons why Sonoma didnt finished better than 4-7 was because their passing game couldnt make things happen. They passed, but when they were down in the 4th against Terra Linda and Dublin (both of which should have been wins), their passing game didnt produce because the ability wasnt there. I know they used the passing game to get on the board quick against Vallejo, but the only other time it really worked through the season was against Windsor. Sonoma's defense will as usual be solid with a margin for error (Dublin), so I wouldnt worry about that, it just comes down to the offense. As of now, I'd say .500. Cant put them above with only Muslim on the experienced side, but I wouldnt drop them a lot lower due to their consistent defense. With their 2009 schedule, their 2010 team has the potential to go 4-0.
Windsor - Just be happy their hired a coach sooner than later. Davis will have the chance to make things happen and of course work with players hes been coaching for a few years already. By default, with Petaluma losing so much, and Hburg also losing some talent, I'd put them at a solid number 2 in league. Offense will feature the pass, the pass, and more pass with the spread, doubles, maybe tripes, and some option if were lucky. Will be great to watch!
