Its offical, no football on the varsity level for either of these programs. The HDNL has shifted some games and done their best to ensure each program has as many games as possible to supplement for this unexpected change of events. All HDNL schedules have been updated. Hoopa Valley and Eureka however got the short end of the stick with only 8 games each.
I have found two programs that have an opening to cover one of Eurekas open weeks. I'm trying to work with Eureka and each of the two programs to see if they would be willing to play the defending Div. II Champs.

Did some looking and made a few calls but came up with minimal results. I tried Sequoia of Redwood City but they have filled their 10th game (very interested in scheduling next season though after hearing of Eureka's success in 2009). The second is Richmond but I'm still trying to get a hold of Coach Jeff Tyner. I would of course need to pass this info along to Eureka to see if they are interested in scheduling another game.

Actually just got another email from Sequoia in Redwood City and they want to get something going with Eureka in 2011 if Eureka has the openings. Sequoia plays in the CCS and has 1700 students. In 2009 they finished 7-3 mainly due to the success of their new coaching staff.

What about Trinity of Weaverville, CA? They were scheduled to play Arcata on 9/10/2010 and if Arcata doesn't have a team, then they have 9 games scheduled with an opening on 11/12/2010 (as does Eureka)...
Just to add more info about Trinity...
Coach: Jaime Green League: Sacramento Valley Section: Northern 2009: 9-3 Distance: 103 miles (2 hours)
I don't have contact or any personal connection with the school, just saw two openings and possible fix so each of these teams can get a full schedule...maybe Ben can contact them and try to get something going?
I'll post more teams if I run across any...

West Valley is taken, Tulelake isnt available a week Eureka has open, and same with Modoc. Also consider all the Northern Section doesnt play regular season 11/12, thats playoffs for them.

Great to try and help NDNL out, they tend to not be on the radar of any folk down here...
best be careful about competition ability...tulelake, modoc or trinity could not possibly play Eureka, these are very small towns (particularly tulelake) it would be like Upper Lake against Casa Grande/tho Modoc is pretty good at their level, that's like Cloverdale-Casa Grande....but Hoopa Valley would be an excellent match for any of those three...
Richmond is in far worse shape than Elsie Allen, a good sized school but plays at an NCL I level (Richmond's competitiveness might even be at NCL II level) ....Though probably same size enrollment as Eureka, if not larger, Richmond has so many of the urban school ills, I fear a matchup would not be good for either team as well.
but keep searching everyone...a Sequoia-Eureka match would be cool some time down the road, and already Hoopa Valley has some options that they may not have known about!

I've made so many calls and emailed so many coaches my fingers are bleeding. There are absolutely no games available for any of the three open weeks Eureka has in Northern California. I've tried Southern Oregon and have no luck. I make have found a game for Hoopa Valley though.

Ben & Sikolec, Thanks so much for looking for teams with open dates. I appreciate the time and effort! Keep passing information on to the coaches. I'm sure if there is team available we'll make the trip to play. The entire HDN was left scrambling at the last minute and as you pointed out, Ben, EHS and Hoopa came up short on the games.
GOOD LUCK to all Friday night!

Eureka is working on scheduling a possible contest with Ferndale later in the season.
There is a possibility of a contest between Eureka and Richmond on either Oct. 1 or Oct. 2 with location to be determined. Still only a possibility, a lot depends on how much Richmond wants to play a tough Empire school. I'll pass along any info that comes my way.
