True, but that is as of 9-2-10. Teams have until Friday (9-17-10) to petition up or down for this year. After Friday it is official what division teams will play in. From what I've heard, CN will be DIII this year.

And how can you tell Eureka would kill them based on what? I personally think Eureka is a damn good team and I no am not a CN homer. But seriuosly Eureka so far has fattened up on creampuffs and cupcakes. Whereas CN's schedule has 1 elite state level team, possibly another with Palma and they have beaten a state bowl rep at a neatural site. I think I'd like to see the season play out.
Based on what I have seen from Cronin, I don't think CN is the team that would change divisions beause they are worried about playing a good team.

Trust me when i say I am no Newman Fan, but they do play a tough schedule every year. I would like to see them play Eureka also, but seriously don't know if eureka can stay them.

Well should Eureka actually finish the regular season 9-0, they will land a #4 seed or even lower come playoff time. A home game is promised should Eureka win league so thats always good. Look for Eureka to be an impromptu dark horse that is underrated especially by the East Bay. In the Contra Costa Times blog, no one gave Eureka any respect against Pinole Valley. After seeing the final score... silence. Same thing the next week with Ygnacio Valley going up north. After the final score of 57-0 was released... silence. Could be lots of silence this season from the East Bay :-)

I think Eureka has the potential to be a great team this year, but we will know better after this Friday at Shasta. As for Eureka's schedule, they will play anyone. The problem is who will play them. Outside of Shasta and Ukiah, traditionally nobody wants to do home and home games with the Loggers. With Eureka annually taking 2 to 3 road games outside the area, you can't expect them to take more than that, especially with the budgets these days. Eureka would love to play the best from the North Bay (Casa, MC, Newman, Monty, Novato) but until they want to step up and make a return trip up the coast, don't blame the Loggers for their schedule.

Thats just why I'm working with Coach Montana on getting some schools to make the drive to Eureka next season and then so-on through the future.

Eurekas leauge hurts there schedule, but up to last year Eureka hasnt been that good, they are a good team, but not great. They have had 2 good teams in the last 10 years, that might be one reason they cant get anyone sold to play them year in and out. It will be interesting the next couple weeks and see how they play.

Montana has gotten things going at Eureka and hopefully this will provide stability to the program. Mike Benbow has got something great going on in Fortuna. Dispite a two loss start to the season Fortuna has been getting better as a program. Ray Rook will do the same at Del Norte and it seems all the getting better of the league will be at the expense of Arcata. The best thing for the league is for coaches to keep coaching. Rook is a young guy that could make things happen. Montana has a great start to what could turn into a career. Eureka will be just as good if not better than last season. As for getting some good opponents, we'll have to see what Eureka next season looks like.

Eureka has had other opponents in the recent past. Several years with Lassen, Northern Section. 07 Vanden, Vacaville area. In 08 Eureka traveled to Foothill (Pale Cedro) Northern Section. Then in 09 they asked to be released from contract as they found a different opponent. Pleasant Valley, (Chico) Northern Section, had completed a 2 year cycle and chose not to renew citing travel costs. When Eureka scheduled last years Castlemont game they were coming off a winning season. Eureka traveled to play the defending OAL section champs. As pointed out Shasta and Ukiah are the only ones who have been consistant in scheduling home/away contracts. Talk up the Eureka program. See if your school wants to make the commitment. The distance to drive HWY 101 is the same whether you head north or south with beautiful scenery.

I want to correct my previuos post as I was typing quickly. In 08, Foothill came to Eureka, not Eureka traveling there. My mistake, I have been to many ballgames home and away. Also, I guess the correct termonology for the types of contracts are home/home over 2 years. I called them home/away. Sorry.

Hey Wildcat, I don't know where you get that Eureka only had two good teams in the last decade. Eureka did win league titles from 2000-2004, then again in 2008 and 2009. A lot of those teams had 8+ wins. Is your logic that you only have a good team if you win a section title? I hope not. That is like saying a small-school power like Ferndale only had two good teams from 2000-2009 because they won two section titles. That would be ridiculous!
