I know many say they will play DIII, but any word if they sent in their petition. Also is Marin Catholic staying DIII. If so, game this weekend with Cardinal Newman versus Palma could have state bowl implications. Seaside High a state DIII bowl ranked team from CCS plays Palma later in the season. Even if they lose this weekend against a very strong Atascadero from SS-Pac 7, the game in Santa Rosa could have major implications. If Newman wins (and Seaside loses against Palma) and Marin Catholic defeats Newman in DIII playoffs, MC would most likely represent in the state bowl, or if Newman defeats MC in forementioned scenario, they would go.
If Newman loses and Seaside defeats Palma (assuming Seaside wins their section), they could go even with a lose to A-Town based on strength of schedule or in the least would be very close. In other words, the game this Friday night could have major implications for state DIII bowl later this year.
Palma is DIII by enrollment, but sionce they play in their section's strongest playoff division (yes they could face Valley Christian), they are bumped up to D1 or Open for state bowl consideration. Palma versus Newman should be a very good game. Both are very similar- strong defenses and ball control offenses. This game is a good benchmark for D3 bowl candidates.

Div. III Playoffs is where it's at this year! That's going to be a grueling stretch of games. I can't wait!
