Koa Misi, from his Utah profile - PRIOR TO UTAH: First-team all-conference defensive end helped Santa Rosa Junior College to a division title and a bowl invitation ... two-time first-team all-conference player for Montgomery High School (Calif.) ... Defensive Player of the Year ... Montgomery went 13-0 in 2005 and won the league title ... also lettered in baseball and basketball ... honor roll student.

I know that both Misi & Finley both played at Santa Rosa before they transfered. Misi to Montgomey in his junior yeat & Finley to Piner in his Senior year. Both went on to play at SRJC and now Misi is at Utah starting at defensive end and most likely will be drafted to the NFL next year.

Thats the exact answer I was looking for. Both Koa Misi and Walt Finley went to Santa Rosa. Both players were dominate after they transfered. So The success at Piner and Montgomery were build off transfers just like Newmans success is built from 'recruiting'. No one made any noise where these specific transfers went through, but when anyone goes to Newman, the whole world explodes. You cant prove that either of them were recruited, or just transfered. Same thing applies for anyone tranfering to Newman.

Thats wasnt predictable at all. Anytime this discussion comes up, all Newman people do is deny and deflect. First Ben, do 2 wrongs make a right? So if Monty or rancho or any other public recruits, does it make it ok for Newman? If you want to accuse Monty or RC then thats fine. But it shouldnt ALWAYS be brought up in discussions regarding CN. The situations are exclusive. I don't care if Monty recruited 100 players and you can prove it. It doesnt make it ok for any other program to break the rules. If you can prove that Monty recruited those players, shame on them. But bring it up separate. Additionally the statement you made of "No one made any noise where these specific transfers went through"...that is absolutely not true. I heard plenty of complaining. You bring up 2 players to justify your point. I will even throw one more for you....A. Williams. But for every player you use that transferred, one could name about 15 that were recruited to Newman during this past success era. Of course...assuming there was any recruiting.

The only reason Monty and Rancho (for example) are being brought up with Newman is simply because the Newman discussion was brought up first, nothing more. You could bring up Elsie, Carrillo, Petaluma, it doesnt matter who were talking about. CN is a private school so its assumed they do recruit, thats why they are brought up first, then other schools, not the other way around.
I could list more and more players that have transfered schools. I suspect the only players you could bring up would be start players that did well at Newman. When it comes to ones that have transfered in the middle of their high school career, only a very few pop into mind (Marty Ponzo, DJ Sexton, Kyle Young). If Newman recruits all these players, they must have a 100% success rate then. I havent seen any players or parents going to the press saying they were approched by Newman coaches and offered a starting position.

maybe u arent reading your own message boards then because there have been plently of people on here that have indicated their son has been recruited by newman. I have even said I have players that have told me they were recruited by them. Regardless, the point has been made. But I guess we all choose what we want to hear and believe. Until they are caught AGAIN, many CN people will deny and deflect. Even after they are caught, they will deny and deflect. And so it goes.......

Is this going to be another year of do they or don't they recruit. Lets talk FOOTBALL this talk will make this site implode. Love the football talk get real tired of all the recruit talk. This year should be very competitive.

Good Point! Can't we all just agree to disagree?

I certainly have football415, but with statements like ......"Newmans coaching staff and success does the 'recruiting' all by itself"..... Its hard to ignore. I didnt bring it up....but lets just say, we will agree to disagree.
