Actually, what I was referring to was weight room workouts and field conditioning. Not football. It's all perfectly fine off season workout stuff.

the NCS only allows 10 days for spring football. You cant start spring football until 2 weeks prior to Memorial Day and you cant practice on Saturday, Sunday, or during finals week. This year that only leaves two weeks May 11-May 22. Cant wait to see some of the new coaches on the field during spring ball installing their new offenses and defenses.. I am going to try to watch SRHS to see what Kiefer is doing and if time allows I would like to try and see what Piner is dong. I would like to see Schueller but I am not driving to ukiah. If anyone knows what time these teams are practicing spring ball let us know.

I know he is not a new coach but a coach I want to give a shout out to is Middletown coach Bill Foltmer. He puts a winner on the field every year with small numbers and he is well respected in Lake County. I know Coach Galloway at St. Vincents is the same way. I think these guys would be just as successful at big schools however they are dedicated to their small schools and their players are lucky to have them.

The coach is not supposed to be out on the field with the kids. Now we know that some schools do this and say it is PE and that's ok as long as it is during school time. but they should not be out there after school hours. personally I don't like kids having to please a coach all year. The kids that are dedicated will work out all on thier own. Now to be competitve early in the year against tougher competition you have to due somethings to get "by" the intent of the ncs rules. It would be nice if the state had the same set of rules for all high schools but that it not the case.. so what new coach will be the most successful...well who's going to push the intent of the rules more and who's going to have the better Joe's to beat the other teams Jimmy's, because as they say "it isn't always the X' and O's but usually the Jimmy's and Joes."

Nova retiring I dont have an opinion on because I dont know him that well. I was a big fan of Blaine Lopez. Do you know where Lopez is these days. Lopez is an outstanding football coach.

As a 1994 South Fork High School grad I can say that I hope Coach Tomlin loses to Elsie, El Molino, and every other game. He was so cocky in high school when they were running the score up on us. I hope the power teams return the favor to him

Hi Josh, welcome to the board. Seems you played against Coach Tomlin. What was his coaching experience in the north and what school(s) did he coach at?
Redwood, I would have to assume you go to or went to Redwood, haha? Any idea what offense Redwood is going to use this season?

Coach Hirsch was assistant coach when I played. I dont know what offense he will run. He is a great coach though and I really liked playing for him.

Tamalpais has Coach Goyer from San Marin now. After seeing Tam go 0-10 two years back, and then going 5-6 with a playoff shot, its hard to see how Goyer is going to do. I would say somewhere in the middle, between 0-10 and 5-6 would be their finish. Should Goyer take Tamalpais to the playoffs like Keefer did, whos to say he wouldnt be the most successful. Also consider success is relative. Casa should go at minimum 8-3 Redwood should go at minimum 6-4 Santa Rosa should go at minimum 3-7 Piner should go at minimum 3-7 Ukiah should go at minimum 4-6
Its when the team does better than that, that detemines which program has had more success.
