Yeah I think MC will be very good this year. Novato maybe a little "down", but even in a down year, they are a program almost all others would trade places with. I reallly like Kristoff (I saw no one had him as a top 5 QB in the position players thread?)
As weird as it sounds, I think MC might be a better "team" this year even though they lost Dumont. Should be Novato and MC at the end.
Casa will have a good chance, I agree the Napa game should be a good indicator and I can see Casa winning. I think they will win the SCL, but maybe with a loss in league.
CN, tough schedule. like Novato will always be tough, but I can see 1-2 in pre-season and 0-3 wouldn't surpsise me. That has alot to do with the quality of opponents as well as CN losing some great players. In the end CN will be fine, although I think Monty beats them and wins the NBL.

jbytes, Your right, my bad...let's give him a chance. I just thought it was funny that he didn't respond with "Frank who?" when it was posted. But your right, as long as he doesn't bash the players..... I will back off and hope your right.

I am not frank and to let you know that peleti-gore is a good family friend so i went down and checked him out with some family this past weekend.. he is a great athlete and i am hoping good things from him.. I have the most up respect for the players in our area.. they bust their butts to succeed in a sport they love.. why take that pride away from them..

Ok, I respectfully apologize for implying that you are Frank. Alot was said last year and I admit I have my guard up. IMO he only joined the board to deliberately bash the Empire players and teams. Then he claimed the success of the board was directly related to his posts, lol. Welcome to the board and don't forget to sign up for the text network to get scores sent to your phone during the season.

nblsupporter, you seem to know about a lot of programs which is great. I thorough vision of the league is appreciated. Its hard with all these team and positional rankings from people that dont know all of the programs well. We all have little tidbits about each team but not a real picture. Good to read. I think Novato is going to have a tough year as well. They have a tough game against Foothill (palo cedro) and then their league games. I really only see a challenge coming from MC. Does anybody know anything about Redwood. They have a new coach I thought and since they always sneak into our league playoffs (which i don't think they deserve) I would be interested to hear how they are going to look next year.

Both Foothill games will be a test for Novato. Pleasanton's team is led by a quality DI QB who will air it out all over the field, just like last year. Novato has an advantage with home field and the mid day sun, lol. Palo Cedro's squad has a beast on the line who is also getting DI looks. Not much info on Redwood yet but the current MCAL projection (not sure who supplied this info), based on what the players have heard, is a 3-way fight between MC, Justin Siena and Novato.

Casa will beat Napa, I'm almost sure of that. Monty beating Grant is going to be tough though. I would think Casa has enough firepower, defense, and stability coaching wise to win SCL. Monty and Newman I think would be the top two in the NBL.

Both Foothills will be a test for Novato?! Just a test? I can only see both Newman and Novato going 1-2 in the non-league. Novato is playing some tough programs, Oakdale, and Foothill from the Northern Section are going to have good seasons. Foothill from the East Bay is going to be better than both. Novato is going to be in trouble unless they seriously develope soon. I still think they will win MCAL though.

I agree, i see newman winning one non-league game and finishing on the top 3 in the nbl.. but monty looks good also.. got the size and speed this year.. Casa looks good also. there will some good games to watch

Being the SCL fan I am, im taking Casa. They had a solid JV team last year and a great bunch of players coming back. I like Monty as well but they have two games I don't see them winning the Grant game on the road and Newman.

Not rehash this since I already said it last season, but I do not see how redwood keeps getting the playoffs over SCL and NBl schools. They are the only D2 school in a league with smaller D3 schools and they keep coming in 3rd in their league. They get in over a squad like Monty that is playing schools like grant and other D2 schools. I dont care if their record is better by a game, it is against samller schoools. And they keep getting knocked out in the 1st round. Not sure how that equates. Novato and Newman will have a tough time with those schedules. Kudos for scheduling those games, but its the old adage of "be careful what you wish for"....both foothills are very good teams. And Del Oro, and Palma are scary good this year, as usual. It is going to be interesting to see teams that lose preseason games winning league etc... I see newman and monty having 2 or three losses and still may win league. If Carillo can come out of their preseason unbeaten it will be interesting because the may have a better record overall but worse in league if they lose to Monty and Newman. Aside from monty and Newman scheduling those powerhouse programs Carillo has the toughest non-league schedule in the NBL. They always have the 3 top SCL teams in their preseason. I would say it is more realistic they come out and beat Casa than it is for Monty to come out and beat Grant. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. All this because teams are vying for SBG births. But its almost like teams are overlooking their own league. We'll see.

Novato has the potential to go 2-1 in pre-season. The QB situation needs work but if they lean to the running game it won't be such a bad thing. Defense is not really an issue but the secondary needs some work. Passing league is helping but won't know the results til the first game up north. Thankfully, Foothill of PC is a running team.

I think Novato is gonna need to lean quite a bit on the running game to stand a chance. They have some serious issues at Qb so far. But they have some decent athletes this year so if Coach Bracket gets creative they might have a chance, but I dont believe their success will come in the air.
Sounds to me like MC might have a pretty good shot this year. How bout Justin-Sienna though? they are half the size of the schools in the MCAL and they always seem to be competitive. I'll definetly be rooting for them this season.
Other D. III teams:
Petaluma - they might be the sleeper pick this year. Qb cant throw that well but hey, it's Petaluma. He's a big kid who should be able to run the Option well. Just get Sullivan in the open. And their FB/LB is a BEAST.
Healdsburg- They always contend but they just lose too much talent to Windsor to be a Section contender.
Windsor - All I know about them is they seem to have a lot of talent every year but never seem to compete. Sounds like coaching to me...
As far as D.II this year, I think its coming down to Newman and Casa. I'd say right now Casa has the advantage with experience. But by the time they meet in the play-offs im sure Newman will be playing some good football. I think the players talent will be pretty even so its gonna come down to coaching. And I've heard it many times but I have to jump on the Cronin bandwagon and say his guys will be better prepared. I think Trent is gonna do a great job for years to come but until he can beat Newman he's just gonna be another coach in Sonoma County.
As far as Monty goes, I just dont see it folks. They have a young line with possibly the best line coach around so they will contend but probably not this year. And with Meredith coaching the Offense?? I see that lasting one half til Franci pulls the plug and starts pounding the ball. THEN they might have a chance. Besides their big TE I dont see a ton of talent jumping out.
Carrillo has talent but they are limited by their offense. When will they figure out they need to evolve. Wing-T doesnt work anymore unless your playing in Tomales's league.
Rancho: LOOK OUT! They are in a lot of trouble this year. I see them being down for the next year or two.
D. II - Newman and Casa D. III - Petaluma D. IV - Justin-Sienna (not really our area) D. V - St. Vincent
