Topic a bit "safe" but something the board can begin the season with positively...
By best I mean consistently throughout the year--not "oh, it's great when X plays Y" (of course it is!) but places the "best" places throughout the season, and why ...
really eager to learn about NCL, HDNL MCAL too....I hear St. Helena is a great place to see a game, but have never been...

My favorite place to see a game is at El Molino. Just feels great, big trees, lots of fans, nice grass, just unlike the cookie cutter stadiums that are popping up everywhere.

My Fav is Healdsburg. You sit so close you can feel the hits.Small town , Rec park , Good atmosphere ,Great people, only if the tri tips sandwiches were as good as Newmans .Too bad Newman couldn't play Healdsburg.

I love Arnold Field in Sonoma, there is a lot of tradition and a very good atmosphere, plus an out-of-this world barbeque. Also, the stands are so close to the field that you feel like you are part of the game

1. Healdsburg. Always have liked the Rec. My favorite place to see a game. Real grass! 2. Ft. Bragg. Timberwolf Stadium. Really a cool palce, real grass, great atmosphere.
3. Drake. Would be my #1 if it had lights. Having Mt. Tam right behind you as a backdrop great setting. Another minus they have the fake crap for a field.
4. Sonoma. Arnold Field. Like the tradition and setting.
5. Santa Rosa. The Oaks surrounding Nevers Field are pretty cool and the SR campus adjacent to the field s by far the best campus around.

I'm also going to go with Healdsburg and Rec Park. Just a good atmosphere for high school football. Small town feeling...the town comes out for the games.

Kinda Bias with me being a Healdsburg guy but, i have to agree with just about everybody, Rec Park in Healdsburg is the best place to see a game. You are really close to the action so you can hear everything that is going on. But the best seat in the house are from the press boxes. plus they have a really good PA announcer that is not annoying at all. It has a great small town feel to it being in the middle of town. it's not uncomon to see kids watching throught the fences on University Street w/ runs parallell to Rec. Park. The food is really pretty good, good burgers, pizza, and you must get a BBQ Tri Tip sandwitch. Get one early because they run out fast. If I had to pick 2nd It would be a tie between Sanoma, and El Molino

Yeah, Rec Park and Arnold Field do not have tracks, so the bleachers are on top of the action.
I'll drive by Drake sometime and check it out. And El Mo does have scenic character.
Karlson Field in Sebastopol has a nice classic looking campus by the stadium, too.
The all-wooden bleachers at Durst Field Petaluma makes it a better than average setting.
I think Ukiah lost some of its home advantage when moving from Anton Stadium, which was like Rec Park.
Agree with you htown, PA announcers who are NOT annoying with their constant hype help promote a great atmosphere!

1.Personally, I have only went to two of these but, Tomales vs St.Vincents at tomales is the best atmosphere. In the middle of nowhere in the fog, rivals, huge crowds, its friday night lights at its best. I'm sure the new SV stadium will be nice though.
2.Santa Rosa. It has a great feel to it and probably the best stadium in the empire.

Ferndale is a great place to watch a game. It is like football in Texas. The small farming town shuts down to come watch their boys play. Grass Field (until about week 3 when it has turned to mud) and sits right under the horse track at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. You can smell the dairies and everything in the snackbar is homemade by the parents.

But Newmans BBQ tri tip sandwich is the best in the empire.
