Was it the year before last that they didn't do well in the first games?

Two years ago they tied Central Catholic in their first game, lost to Del Oro in their second game and beat Oakdale in their third game. As for this year, with your 8-5 or 7-6, this presumes, assumedly, that they would not only lose this week, but also lose to both Rancho and Montgomery, at least, and one other NBL team, yet still somehow make it to the section championship game (that is the only way that they get to play 13 games). Do you really think they can get to that championship game if they lose 2 or 3 games in league? I certainly do not think so.

No doubt Newman is not the same team as last year, and without a doubt Central and Del Oro are much better. James is not getting near the same time in the pocket as past year Newman QB had. He is being forced to run more often the Newman would like, The WR are young and need more gametime. The runing game is also needs better blocking at this point in the season. As this young team gains more game time against three very good pre season teams, win or loss they will be ready for tthe NBL. Central, Del Oro, and Palma are overall better then most teams in the NBL. Newman had moments during Central and Del Oro where the moved the ball with effect, and just got worn down by the bigger line of both teams. Newman will not dominate the NBL as the had in the past, but Monty and Rancho should be careful this newman team will be battle tested and looking for some wins once league starts

Well, for their sake, they better be hungry rather than demoralized.

hsfbfan....no..I wasn't thinking of that. I forgot that 13 would include the championship game and I don't think they'll be there this year.

Well, we're in agreement on that one then.
