Just now viewing the blog this week and hsbfan -- I agree as well. Let the kids play and have fun. It's HS football for goodness sake. I know to some "fans" (parents etc.) it's all about winning and who's on top but really it's not about US it's about them. Leave it -- whatever happens happens and this is their time their game their lives not ours. :-)

That is the best point I have seen made on this. Let the players go out there and hit some people! For the seniors it will most likely be the last time they get to. Do you actually think that those boys give a crap that they'll have to play an extra game or two? Knowing football players those boys live to play football, they work all off-season at the gym, in conditioning, spring ball, summer ball, two-a-days you name it.

Amen, htown....long after I stopped playing many moons ago, I still wished I could play another play, or game...it's like years from now, when these players are grown up, are they going to sit back and say "I'm so glad I had that bye week off", or "I'm so glad I got to play another game"...

Anyone hear about yesterday over at Newman? (4) players got into some trouble and I heard at least 2 of them were from the Varsity team including Sullivan. Anyone hear about this?

Thats an internal matter at Newman and shouldn't be discussed on this board

Sorry about that. Didn't realize it was against the rules. My apologies.

It isn't internal if they get kicked off or suspended. They only thing should off limits shold be what they did since they are minors.

Agree with ranchofan. If they are suspended or kicked off it seems kind of relevant. Doesn't matter what they did (that I agree, it is really is not anyones business what they did), but since this board is about football and football teams I don't see why it is off limits.

I agree with bella and ranchofan, because guys missing a game for whatever reason injury, grades, or whatever the issue is, will effect the outcome of the game. Honestly if those kids got in trouble before the game that is just inexcusable, this is the biggest game of the year! The season is on the line for Newman, win there in, loose your out.

If they got into trouble it will go under review, this process could take weeks to resolve. I am not saying that it wont be handled but in some schools cases they tend to handle after the season ends.

Add me to the bandwagon. This is a relevant story. We don't need to know what they did but, it should be talked about on this board. Just like if someone was hurt and missing a game it's news. We are not here to rip on the kids just interested in if there are players going to be missing the game.

I think no matter what happens tonight...Montgomery, Newman, Rancho and Carrillo are all in...

4-6 Carrillo getting in the playoffs? I dont know about that. I'd think they are in as well, but wouldnt make any commitment as of yet.

But looking deeper, the three teams behind them (on most people's rankings) are likely to lose this weekend as well. Pinole Valley, Northgate, and San Lorenzo. So as long as the Pumas don't get blown out, I think they still have a shot.

I think the winner of tonight's game between Newman and Carillo is in...and the loser is out.
