Finally Newmanfan something that you and I both agree on

IMO NBL is the stronger league. Why, because Petaluma and and Casa struggled last night? Despite what you may feel and others say, Petaluma and Casa won those games. Making them, in addition to Windsor, a combined 7-0 against the NBL's playoff teams.

Interesting logic, newman fan...so, I guess if Newman loses a close one to Windsor tonight, then this will CLEARLY demonstrate the superiority of the NBL, for their ability to lose close games to teams of the other league cements their superiority as a league?

Petaluma and Casa beat both teams twice what more do you want ? great games each time but the better teams won doesn't matter how close they were a win is a win 1 and 2 beat 15 and16 just like everyone thought. If NBL is stronger why cant they beat a SCL team they played twice in the same season.

After Cardinal Newman's win tonight the NBL is 1-16 vs. SCL this year. Case closed...

This is indeed compelling and certainly tells a tale, BUT, suppose that Newman beats Petaluma, and if Monty meets (and beats) Casa in the semi-finals (certainly a possibility), then what? Would the 3-16 NBL vs. SCL record, but knocking off the "top dogs" in the playoffs mitigate the discussion about the better league? What counts more...the preponderance of games during the season, or the bigger, but fewer, games in the playoffs? Just wondering...

If CN and Monty beat Petaluma and Casa, I think a case could be made the NBL is better. But as it stands right now, it's not even close no matter how you look at it:
SCL 16-1 against NBL SCL had 6 playoff teams, NBL had 3. SCL playoff teams currently 7-1 against NBL playoff teams
And claiming how Petaluma and Casa are likely better than RC and MC, but the NBL is better because Petaluma and Casa only won close games simply defies logic.

I completely agree, as far as claiming close losses makes the teams/league better - this is simply ridiculous. But if Petaluma and Casa both lose to Newman and Monty, it is a valid argument, and one that goes back to a proposition from earlier in the year - across the board, the SCL was far better this year, but it is still possible that the NBL is stronger at the top...though of course, this may not happen and remains to be seen.

Newman and Monty beating Petaluma and Casa? Wow, somethings come out of no where...
As it stands, the SCL is obviously better than the NBL.

As it stands? Yes...could it happen? Yes... Will it happen? Probably not, but as they say, that's why they play the game.

Yeah, I don't think anyone is saying it's going to happen. But it could. It would be a tall order, and a tall order that must be accomplished before there can be any serious discussion about the NBL being better.
But after watching Cardinal Newman tonight, I like Petaluma's chances. A lot.

After this week nothing is out of the question. Still even if that does happen...it would be 16-3. Someone said the NBL is the stronger league. I'm guessing that means up and down the league. 16-3 is well 16-3...

Newmans defense is far better than RC . This is like a poker match Cronin is a smart coach.we'll see on Friday. When was the last time a scl team won a NCS title?

Newmanfan, you may think your defense is better than Rancho's and maybe it is. We will see on Friday too, you're right. Remember this with your breakdown method then. Petaluma hung 55 on Windsor. What now genious?
