I'm leaning towards King...he has been there offensive. Petaluma has a couple of different options...

As I said before Dj gets my vote. There a lot of good players this year on Offense and Defense but have support around them. In Dj's case he is great on both sides of the ball. Not much more to say than that when you are talking about the most value player, Windsor would not be in a play off run with out him. Not sure any other player listed above has that arguement.

DJ King does it both. Offense and Defense. Only a few of the other nominees do that. That is the definition of "Most Valuable Player" to me. He is the #1 guy on a fairly good team that most people wrote off when Erion got hurt. All the other players have a good supporting cast also. Nothing against the rest of Windsors team, but most teams key on King and he still has good games.
IMO this is a fun topic for arm chair QB's on the weekend but MVP talk really takes away from the team aspect of football. Its not good for the kids mentality. I think we should focus more on the group efforts these student-athletes are putting out without singling any one player out. None of these guys would be doing as well without their teammates.

what about back of the year? He doesnt play defense so he won't be getting much mvp talk, but sullivan is quietly leading the scl in rushing by 300 yards

Not only does Sullivan have over 300 more rushing yards than his closest competitor, he has less carries than all three of his closest competitors. How many more yards would he have if he were allowed to play in the 4th quarter?

Can't argue with Sullivan's numbers but King between passing and running is over 1,300 yards and has been part of Windsor's 16 of the 25 touchdowns they have scored this year. Someone asked about 1,000 yard rushers. I'm pretty sure Muslin of Sonoma is over 1,000 yards. If not he is pretty close. I had him unofficially at 941 to weeks ago and his stats hasn't showed up since and Sonoma doesn't do their stats at Max Preps. Maria Carrillo is another team that doesn't use MaxPreps..guessing Atoe's got to be pretty close too. Also St. Vincent's Kris Farinha is over 1,200 yards.

If Sullivan doesn't win it he will be back of the year. Kris Farinha would be a very average back if he played in the same league as Keys and Sullivan. King and Sullivan both have overcame obstacles and adversity so they both deserve it.

what obstacles and adversity has Sullivan overcame? just wondering .The only thing King has going for him over Sullivan and a couple other players up on the board is he plays both ways all the time. Windsor has been the underdogs since there back of the year got hurt everyone always roots for the underdogs , nothing wrong with that.

I would think pretty soon. They won't wait until playoffs are done (up to 4 weeks) to pick the teams.

If you mean SCL "Player of the Year" as voted by the SCL coaches... it has to be someone that was a major contributor on both sides of the ball. Not sure if Keys meets the criteria. I would have to say Simms and King are front runners in terms of their impact on both offense and defense. If I have to pick one... it is Simms due to team success.

houndsfan:
I am sorry but I disagree, I don't think the MVP has to be a player on both sides of the ball. I put more weight on best player on either the top 1-3 most competitive teams in the league. It just so happens the two guys I look at with "MVP" potential happen to be two-way players.
Here's where I do agree with you, I as well as many others, would say Sims is more of an MVP than Sullivan, Russell, or Keys, not because the primarily play on one-side of the ball, but more because they have had some serious help form other players on their teams. But, I think its still pretty close between Sims and King. Co-MVPs would be the best bet.
