Dudes, what about Ricky Sims of Petaluma? He is a beast and plays both ways. He will be playing on.

James has two years experience on Varsity. He hasnt been under center for those two years, but with the experience, and in playing in 27 of the 28 games Newman has player the last two years, James is a good prospect. Max Pond spent two years on varsity and rarely played QB, but when it can his turn Senior year, he was the best in the Empire. Just as James runs out of the pocket a little much, Wright stayed in the pocket too long. Wright learned and adjusted, so will James.

I think James came up for the playoffs in his sophomore year. If so, it's one year plus a few games on Varsity. I agree with you on Wright, Ben. He has a good arm, but I think he was exposed in the state game. I am not sure he has adjusted just yet. Again, needs work on the feet. He looks great until there is a rush to contend with and then he went all sluggish. Granted the secondary had his receivers locked down, but he looked half asleep under the pressure. I wish him well, but Wright has a long way to go to succeed at the next level. He's got the arm, the frame, and he's not slow, so I assume he will do OK at Davis. And you're right, there's no reason to believe James won't do well this year with that protection and that offense.

After an amazing game as the JV QB in the 2007 Central Catholic game (CN: 28, CC:21), James was brought up to varsity for 'doing everything on JV'. He was brought up to play LB mainly because Tyler Carr got hurt (seperated shoulder I think). 11-2-1 in 2007 and 13-1 in 2008 is 28 games for Newman in just two years. James started in 27 of those games. Should Newman go to the championship again, thats 13 games, totaling in 40 games in a varsity level. If James doesnt go to play in college, or at least at a Junior college, Ill be shocked. Great expectations from this kid...

I'll be routing for Jack this year and from what I've seen over the last two years I am sure he will do well.
Will I be shocked if he doesn't continue on at the college level? No, not after watching my nephew play and seeing what he went through last year when it came recruiting time.
Colleges have a mold for each position and if you don't fit the mold you don't get the offers even if you can play the game.

You are correct Stogi, for any of these kids to play at the next level is difficult enough, but at quarterback it is even tougher.

Have not heard of him attending any camps or even work out sessions. Where was he working his ass off or is that wishful thinking?

He has been working his ass off in our weightroom everyday. He shows up early in the morning when most of us are still sleeping and he comes after school. He works out twice a day weight training, speed & agility training. He is as hard as a worker as we have ever had at Newman. He currently is 6/0 215. He is gonna have a huge year!
