I got this info off Norcalpreps from another poster if anyone is interested:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this weekend at sac state camp - Cardinal newman, Galt, Laguna Creek, Granite bay (2or3 squads) and roseville .. did not see roseville today, was told they were at camp... biggest surprise - # 21 from Laguna creek !!!! wow.... a RB who looks like a frieght train !!!!
will get some good views tommorrow... and find out who the frieght train is !!!
FYI - Sac state has done a great job of site improvements and the facility is just so much better than in prior years !!!! Love to see some quality D1 football played in the area !!! They do have the facility !! so hopefully the program at Sac state will improve !!"
"session 2 has Granite Bay ( 2 maybe 3 groups), Cardinal Newman, Galt, Laguna Creek and an Oak ridge squad of Sophomores, i believe...
Granite bay looks solid, laguna Creek is athletic ( watch out for the human wrecking ball -HUNT ) , Cardinal newman looks ok... biggest surprise may be Galt... very athletic team with great overall speed...
Granite Bay just looks solid at all positions... pretty solid group and just great weather !!"

Newman played ok yesterday from the one session against GB that I saw. But from what they say about GB is a strong team. Cronin should adjust . Wish i was there today to see how they do.

GB is a strong program that is on par with the better SJS teams (Grant, Nevada Union, Napa etc.). A good test for CN. Although I don't think you can exactly tell a lot about a team with a "camp" which are about the equivalent to the NFL pre-season (it isn't always the best indicator of how a team will actually perform in the real season).

Better Newman plays GB, Del Oro and other strong teams than Tomales, St. Vincent, and Santa Rosa.

Probably wont hear much about it until they return. CN only returns something like 2 WRs that had some experience on last seasons team. Starting QB is Jack James who was a WR last season, and starting RB is Stout, who didnt play a whole lot at all. Just picture Newman in 2007.

WOW, and everyone knows Ben Herrington is the god of H.S. Football. I feel like I am at the "Field of Dreams". I heard a whisper in the corn field that said,,,,,"If Ben says it, god will come". This should just be a CN blog site. God knows Tomales, St. Vincent, and Santa Rosa don't count!!!

Back to the topic:
Here is another blurb from an SJS poster off of a different website regarding the Sac State Camp. It sounds like CN had a tough day Vs. a loaded Granite Bay Team, but that Stout played well: _________________________________________________
"I did watch a few of them.GB handled CN pretty easily.GB is loaded.2 full varsity squads.LC is athletic with good speed, but seemed to be lacking discipline. They have time to work on that.Didn't see Woodland.Galt has speed for a change, small o line and they will hit you on d.Standouts were the rb and a wr from GB,rb from CN,2 rbs and wr from Galt and wr from LC."

Heard that Stout looked good but James is really struggling. When is the last time James was under center. Was it his freshman year. If that is the case I would imagine he would get the feel back towards the end of summer. He just needs more time.
