I just got a call from a friend whose son plays for Santa Rosa. He says Keefer resigned today. Can anyone confirm this?

Thats true.
A true testimate to how much the Santa Rosa Admin supports their football program. They give such little support to their football program/coach that Tony Keefer walked away.
If Keefer walks away from SR, who do they think they can get that will stay?

Coach Keefer will be missed at Santa Rosa. He did a great job at Tamalpais and then inherited a tough situation at Santa Rosa. When Coach Ponce was let go it was very crushing to the players who loved playing for him. Coach Keefer had very little talent in his program from top to bottom. His J.V. team was so poor they got beat by Ukiah and Piner both by 30 or more points leading to know hope for the next few years. Coach Keefer worked hard and with little talent found a way to upset Carrillo and push Montgomery to the end in a great game. My hats off to Coach Keefer, good luck with whatever you choose to do next, and as a SRHS alumni I say thank you.
Now SRHS administration dont mess the search for a new coach up. We need a coach soon to move on with offseason workouts and to prepare for summer camps and passing leagues. Please hire John Antonio as soon as possible. He is the right guy for this job, and has a full staff ready to come with him.

Riordan, Bishop O'Dowd?? huh?
Saiz might do it, but he has a good thing going at Newman.
Less Richardson, from what I've heard, will be putting in for the job. Hes a good coach with a lot of experience. He's got a solid defensive mind that has been producing results.
Chris Meredith, I'm not so sure. I believe hes going to the JC. Considering the JC is traditionally producing the best passing game in the nation for 2-year schools, the QB coaching position is something nice to have. I'm not so sure he would give that up to coach at Santa Rosa.
John Antonio will be staying at Casa, spoke with him about it yesterday.
Mike Ervin, well thats good one. SR is closer to his home than Calistoga, but on the same note, he didnt put in for the windsor for a reason. What makes you think we would put in for Santa Rosa?
Chris Augusto, I can only hope so. I dont care where, but Chris should stay in coaching as much as possible. He can help any program he goes to. Not too sure if he'd want the commute from Marin, but I dont see why not.
Some of my own...
Russell Ponce - I dont know if he or the Santa Rosa admin would go for round 2, but who knows.
Jason Fayter - I believe hes going north to Cloverdale, but this could tempt him away. I'm still pretty sure he'd make Cloverdale OC happen, but you never know. He does have a good record in turning programs around (2-0 as it sits now).
Taylor Galloway - Doubt it, but hes out there and has shown experience and interest in head coaching. He didnt make it at Windsor, but could put in for Santa Rosa
Gary Dellapere - He's been there before and might want to be there again. All I know is he is still at Santa Rosa, and SR is 0-2 on satisfaction for their last off-campus coaches. He might just keep this one for himself. Other than that I know nothing about him.

AS FAR AS SOME OF THE SELECTIONS AUGUSTO WOULD BE THE BEST SELECTION(IF HE APPLIES). I AGREE HE SHOULD BE COACHING HE IS VERY GOOD. HE WOULD TURN THIS THING QUICK WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT. WHICH WITH SOME THINGS SAID SR IS A LITTLE LIGHT WITH THIS.

Let me talk about this list for a second,
Saiz –Will not do it. He is very happy at CN. CN will be very good the next few years. He has it good with Coach Cronin
Les Richardson-He is putting in. I think he’s crazy to leave RC because he is next in line to take over there. I don’t think Conroy will be there but another few years because his daughters are getting older (will be in High School soon) and he wants to be involved in their lives and attend their athletic events. Les should get the Santa Rosa job, he’s a great coach, will soon be unemployed (retiring) and once played for and coached with Gary Dellepere the athletic director.
Chris Meredith-No way. He will not be a head coach at any Santa Rosa City school for a long time. Although, he did a very good job at Montgomery this past year. He seemed to be contained from the prior years when we played them. He was very respectful. But I just do not see Chris in that position again. Especially while Gary Dellepere is the athletic director. .
John Antonio- I am not sure he will be putting in for the job. I have heard he will but I think he too has it very good at Casa Grande. He’s a very good young coach. He’s eager to get a head coaching job in this area and he will, but I am not sure about this one.
Mike Ervin-I don’t see Mike coming back to the NBL. I think he has a very good thing going and actually when I last talked to him he mentioned he wanted to maybe hang it up. He’s a good guy but his style and philosophy will not work at Santa Rosa.
Chris Augusto-Do not know much about him. I know he was the offensive line coach this past year. Santa Rosa had very poor line play. I’m sure he is a good coach but I am do not know. He did a great job years ago when he was at San Marin. He is a big loud guy and maybe using him for continuity from Tony would be a good thing. If he wanted to stay. But I do not know.
Some of my own...
Russell Ponce –From all I hear, Russell would go with John Antonio if he decides to put in. I am not sure that is good for John being that Russell was not retained when he coached there. I do know that the kids and parents really like Russell, but he will not return as the head coach.
Jason Fayter –I do not believe he would leave Windsor where he did a very good job and go to Santa Rosa. I can see him at Cloverdale.
Taylor Galloway – This is the nephew of Gary Galloway (St.Vincent). He once was a Newman coach. I have a lot of respect for Gary. I think his nephew has really helped S.V turn the corner and they are in the running year in and year out for a N.C.S. title.
Gary Dellapere – He will not be the Head Coach at Santa Rosa. Hes happy with being semi out of football although he coached a little this past season. I like Gary and I think he is a great coach. I think he will help Les out but not as a head coach.
The Santa Rosa job is very interesting. Every year they have a few good players but can not put it together to make a run at the NBL. But with the likes of CN, Montgomery, Carrillo and Rancho it’s a very tough league. As long as Santa Rosa unified has open enrolment certain schools (Elise, Piner and Santa Rosa) will struggle. Santa Rosa has a huge support system from their student body. Every time we play them there we know we are going to have a battle with the noise, believe it or not. I thought Tony was doing a fine job, but its difficult when you do not have certain things to work with. But with that being said, the facilities may be the nicest in the Empire.

I heard cerf may put in. He turned Redwood around and SR needs a coach who can do that for them. Although he hasnt coached in 10 years so he may be a little rusty.

I don't think the RC job will open up for 8 or 9 years. I believe Conroy has 2 daughters in college an 1 in HS. He has said he wants to keep coaching at RC.

SR is in a lot of trouble here. Bad time to have to look for a coach. Should be a very interesting situation here. And what an unusual list of candidates.

Nothing unusual about these coaching candidates. Everyone one of them is a good coach. The reason I think Antonio is the best candidate follows:
John has been the head coach at Calistoga and Richmond. He is looking for a local program that he can take over and stay with for the next 20 years. S.R. has been going through coaches quicker than most change underwear. Antonio is a lock to stay at Santa Rosa for 20 years until retirement. He is a local guy, his wife teaches locally, he is a local police officer, ThIS JUST MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE!!! , which is why Santa Rosa will probably mess it up and hire someone else.
