Actually Coach Cerf started coaching Rancho Cotati Pop Warner in 80 or 81 - can't remember that far back anymore He was a really motivational coach and the kids responded well to his technique and coaching style. SRHS should be making a decision here pretty soon...it will be a long hard summer for the boys of Santa Rosa, let's see what they are made of...hopefully more than some of you think! I will be VERY interested in seeing their dedication and heart once the season begins. It's just wait and see now

I had heard that Santa Rosa was going to make a decision by this Saturday (yesterday), but all applicants havent been interviewed yet. I believe a total of 7 have applied. One of my sources spoke directly with some of the admin at Santa Rosa, and they was an apparent lean towards Les Richardson from Rancho.

It would sure be wise of SRHS to interview all of the applicants. I would sure like to know how they can have interviews so quickly, the applicatoin process ended on Friday? If they dont go into the interviews with an open mind and just give a guy the job before anyone else gets to interview -that would be a shame and a sham. There are alot of good coaches out there that deserve to be heard and after SRHS past blunders they are in no position to do that. My god this will be the sixth coach in 15 years ---figure it out!!!

Maybe the people the person they talked to has shown they are willing to stay for a while. This is not the Keefer situation anymore. Les will do a great job with Santa Rosa and will stay for a long time.

Ranchofan Les got the job? Im not sure what you meant by your post. I understand you want Les to get the job but the past few posts have me confused. Ben, you said that you were told Les is getting the job, Ranchofan says Les will do a great job so does this mean Les is the new coach? So maybe they chose the new coach, les after he interviewed? To back up what you are saying Ranchofan, I highly doubt any of teh coaches who have applied are planning on leaving after just one year. I doubt Keefer only planned on doing one year.

abc123 after looking at my post I should read before sending...... What I was trying to say is that Santa Rosa has probably talked to all to make sure what the plans were for all coaches in their future. I cannot say for sure if Les got the job but from what I hear it is pretty much a lock.

Hey all, been on Temp duty assignment down south, couldnt get on the board until now.
No Les does NOT have the job ("yet" is a possibility). Even while working with the Army down south (so happy I'm Air Force!), I was getting as much info as I could.
The two front runners are Les Richardson an John Antonio. On a personal opinion from those I know, Les has the lead. HOWEVER, there are 6 additional applicants for Santa Rosa to interview. I believe one is a college coach an there is another that is a really good dark horse.
Santa Rosa will indeed need to conduct all interviews. I guess others have seen what Santa Rosa can be! The deadline on the interviews is all over the place, Im really not sure when it is. Maybe another week, maybe the week after that, but no longer than 2 weeks.
Should be a great story, but whoever takes the jobs needs to know Santa Rosa is looking at another 2-8 season without absolute commitment.

TOTALLY agree BK!! I think your post is one of the best and most logical I've read so far!! I hope that this is exactly what happens; that ALL applicants are fairly interviewed.

This is becoming a joke!! If les gets the job its because him and Dellepere are friends? you people are ridiculous. Lets not forget that he has been coaching for some 20 years, he would do a great job there. Also,Gary Dellepere is one of the most fair and honest guys that i have EVER met and WILL NOT hire somebody just because its his friend, In my opinion its almost going to be harder for Les to get this job for just that reason. Why doesn't everybody keep there "connections" and ASSumptions to themselves and let this thing play out,and who ever gets the job good luck and congrats to them.

I've heard Rick Mecurial has applied, but not a whole lot else. Some have still not been interviewed. Little strange this is taking so long considering Keefer resigned quite a long time ago.

Okay...over a week since I last posted and STILL, NOTHING!! What's the hold-up over there at SRHS? Are they in the middle of interviews? Have they finished? Can we get at least a date on when a decision will be made? I want a well thought-out decision, but as my granddad would say, "these folks are slower than molasses runnin' uphill, in the middle of winter!" (and THAT IS SLOW!!)
I see a bunch of kids that SHOULD at LEAST be weight training...but these kids are doing absolutely NOTHING because there is no direction!! COME ON SRHS, let's get going already!
