I'm not sure they would sell it, seeing as it was unstoppable in almost every game this season. Sorry Mustang but that comment was just stupid.

WO just read some big news, according to MUSTANG Soma missed the bus to the hotel today and the coaches will be benching Soma for a time yet to be determined. Mustang, can you confirm this statement? .

Well Mustang isnt exactly credible, he thinks the trojans offense needed work. I dont think he saw a game all season. I bet he picked Monty over Grant earlier this year.

Htown...go back and read the comment. I was obviously joking as you should have seen. Vanuiku is a star but he does not run a 4.56 nor does he bench NFL lineman type numbers (465). READ the entire post where I made it clear I was joking.

Petaluma- 1972 just called and they said they want their offense back. Mustang... The 318 Yds/Game rushing , 56 Td's rushing and 4,135 yds rushing should speak for themselves. Its not the most glamorous offense, and definitely not the pro style offense we often see, but it sure worked for them this year to say the least. And saying that Monty played big bad Casa doesn't mean anything. Casa came down to the wire with Carillo both games, and in my opinion, Carillo could have been at the top of their league if they got their stuff together. The Grant game, well that's nearly irrelevant. Lincoln's 6-7 doesn't seem too impressive either. What does it even mean when you say defending SCL or leage champs? In high school when players graduate its not the same as say, defending super bowl champs. Teams change every year. A team that wins league one year can be less than par the next.

Easy to spin it however you see fit...so if Carillo could have been at the top of the league, then they were obviously a tough opponent. And now Casa is irrelevant since they did not trounce Carillo, yet they did win all their games except one against the number one seed in the NCS Div. II and one of the participants in the championship game...but oh, they were not very good, I guess. Probably just lucky. And Montgomery lost only to the defending state champs and the number 2 seed in the DII playoffs (and then came back to beat them in the playoffs), but they too were just lucky too, I guess, including having beaten Carillo, who, as you just stated could have been at the top of their league. They also beat Rancho and Newman, both playoff qualifiers...guess that was dumb luck too.
Yep, this is my spin on it...just depends on what set of facts and figures you decide to use to assess, i guess...

I cant even figure out what you are all arguing about. Casa was a good team, evenly matched against Monty. They played two close games against each other and both are good teams. Carillo didnt get their stuff together and lost six games, I dont know why they even got another shot at casa, because they should have been watching the playoffs. It doesnt matter if you have great players that do not perform. I hope I never see a six loss team in the playoffs again. If you are talking about the Preseason schedule for Monty, it was nothing spewcial too. They lost to the good teams and beat the mediocre/bad ones. Monty's preseason didnt tell us much, except that they can play with Casa.

tonytiger I have to disagree about Carillo, they proved to me at least that they diserved to make the playoffs. Remember they did kill Rancho, took Monty down to the wire and were a two-point conversion away from BEATING Casa Grande. I'm Sorry but I still think that was a lame call, if I'm the coach I kick the extra point and go to OT. But I'm just a fan what do I know?

"Casa is irrelevant since they did not trounce Carillo" I'm not saying Casa is a bad team, or "they were not very good"... they were one of the best teams in the playoffs. I'm saying that they weren't untouchable, obviously, because Montgomery beat them last weekend, and they were beat by Petaluma, along with nearly loosing to Carillo.
Petaluma's preseason schedule was not exactly on the same level as Monty's, but they did win all 3. And I'm saying that a team (carillo) that had good athletes was no walk in the park for either team. Petaluma's preseason was not guaranteed victory, as owl made it sound. A comparison can be made between the teams and way Petaluma played in their preseason vs. Monty's. Petaluma beat the good team they played, whose PERSONNEL was on par with many top teams in NCS. Monty didnt.
I don't see any great wins on Montgomery's schedule that show they have a good chance to win this Saturday.

Petaluma fans seem bitter towards Monty. Seems strange. You would think they would be behind the local team to beat Eureka. I guess hoping that Montgomery looses bad will justify Petaluma's loss last week??

I think the mindset there, regarding Petaluma fans, is that if we couldn't beat them, we hope nobody else can...would not surprise me if many of them hope that Montgomery gets beat even worse, so they can point to their game with Eureka and say that they played them closer than anyone (although not a lot to brag about there, if that ends up being the case). I also think that if Montgomery comes close, or even wins, then they would be loathe to admit that Montgomery might have been the better team this year, despite the unbeaten regular season that Petaluma had.

I am a shameless Petaluma fan. And I do believe that the Trojans are the best team in the area, with out a doubt. Logically, with that being said, if the Trojans couldn't beat Eureka, then Monty doesn't stand a chance. However, that doesn't mean I am AGAINST Monty winning. I would love to see Eureka beat, simply becuase I'm going to root for the local team. I'm not trying to justify the Petaluma loss by saying Eureka will win, it just seems most likely. It's exactly the same with my view on SOma benching 465 (or whatever absurd number). I'm not saying it's false, I'm just saying that I've never seen any other high schooler come close to those numbers... SO, go MONTY!
