HAHAHAHA Coachjed you are ridiculous, HARRINGTON AS THE NEXT COACH AT RANCHO? ? where did you dream that nonsense up? sounds like maybe your a bit pissed cause you were gonna be on antonio's staff, I think that Antonio would have been a good choice too, however, DO NOT dis credit Les cause he got the job and john didn't. Allthough Les has never been a head coach, he has been coaching for well over 20 years, dont ya think he just might have learned a few things?? And where does it say that you have to had been a head coach already to be a head coach? Les is more than qualified and could have been a head coach a long long time ago. Alot of you have been a complete joke about this the whole time, with all the rumors and so called inside info. Harrington as the next coach at rancho..........riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!!!!!

I agree too. But I called this back month or two ago when Tony quit. The writing was on the wall. Hey Les may be a great coach but this is another Gary hire. I know all to well. I have sat back and watched it happen for a while here at Santa Rosa High. Let's look at the interview committee. All Gary guys except one. Come on let's put an outside committee together and see how the chips fall. Gary has been telling people for weeks it's between two people Les and John. I have to say that's how his priorities are. Coach(John I think) classy move. Your better off. Hoke you had no chance at all. Gary didn't even consider you a canidate. There was no dark horse. Give me a break. That was a ploy by Gary to make itvlook like antonio or Richardson over came a difficult path. Bullshit. Good luck Les. You will need it.

I think its pretty easy to see this is a Gary hire. That doesnt mean its a bad thing though! SR is lucky to get Les Richardson to coach their program. I think John would have made a good coach too but only time will tell what happens at SR. I agree with the outside committee being put together, especially at Santa Rosa. (7 coaches in 10 years).

Gary is the common denominator I spoke of in one of my first posts.Things will never change at SRHS until he retires and has absolutely no say so and the same goes for the other AD who only gives a damn about the JC wrestling team. Not only did SRHS need a Head Football Coach they should think about 2 new ADs. Good Luck to Les and his staff, the players deserve it.

Les coached at the Ranch and stayed until his son graduated. Maybe coaching his son was more important than a head coaching position? Who know what offense he will choose to run? He wasn't the offensive coach at the Ranch, maybe he doesn't like the veer offense. Maybe we should wait until he name his staff and we find out what offense he plans on running before criticizing him.

I'd have to conservatively agree with both ilovefootball and hsfootbalfan. Rosselli running the option would be a huge mistake.

It seems like some of you would not be happy for anybody that got the job. At once you are saying he will do no good with no talent and if John got the job he would have had the same talent. Maybe there is a reason that John didn't get the job, I was not in the interview, were any of you??? Trust me when I say I was going to be happy however the outcome, I just want to see Santa Rosa get a coach that will BE THERE for the kids and make an impact. Either one of these coaches would be able to do that in time.

I'd like to throw out there that none of Antonio's references were contacted...

Congratulations to Les. I have had the pleasure of knowing Les the past few years not only as an opposing coach, but I also had the opportunity of coaching with him this past year at Rancho Cotate. He is not only a great coach who puts a lot of time and effort into his craft, but more importantly, he is a great person and human being. I am very excited for him. More importantly, the students and staff at SRHS should be excited to have the opportunity of having Les coaching there.
Congratulations to John as well for putting in his time and effort to the application process. I am sure he will land on his feet. I have no doubt that he will be a head coach in the near future. Good luck at Casa this year. I am sure you are happy to return to a familiar place, and I am sure Coach Herzog is glad to have you back.
It is a little sad seeing coaches and decent human beings who put in their time and effort, as well as their blood, sweat and tears, getting ripped time, and time again. Especially, before they have even had the opportunity to coach a single game. What is more surprising is how often fellow coaches rip one another, especially on a public site, behind a "user name". It's bad enough there are critics out there and "armchair quarterbacks" that spew their nonsense over and over again. If anything, especially in the current economic climate, coaches should be treating one another as colleagues, and banding together. I personally think most coaches on here are supportive to one another, after all it is a very small, tight knit community that we coaches belong to. If anything, people should be happy for the kids at SRHS, that there is a more than competent coach in place, and that the process is finally over and they can finally more forward.
Again, Congratulations to Les and the students and staff at SRHS. I am sure all those concerned will be happy with decision.

As a Santa Rosa High alum does it really matter who coach's that team. Nothing seems to change in the last 25 years there. It seems if you have any kind of talent football or basketball wise you usually end up at Montgomery, Newman or in basketball Analy. I do have to give a thumbs up to Doug as the track and cross country coach. He runs a top notch program and their soccer program isnt bad either. A nice run too by Steve with the girls basketball program. That program was down for many many years too. Anyone want to take a wager on who finishes 500 or better the football team or the basketball team. I say its years down the road before we see that.
